I enjoyed Bethany and Justice together. They made a great match. They had some great chemistry together a couple of nicely written sex scenes. Not erotica not rated G.
The story line and plot was good. I enjoyed the escape and the chase journey they took. There was a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book. Lots of things going on and not full of unnecessary filler nonsense.
If you like vampires and historical romance you will love this series! I highly recommend it. Would love to see this series on audible for sure, with the right narrator of course.
Bethany Mead is a bluestocking and just being brought out at country house parties. Her father wants a political connection in Parliament and to be rid of his daughter whom he fears will inherit his mother’s madness.
Justus de Wynter is scandalous and not looking for a partner, but he can’t help but feel sorry for the young girl that the other debutants have set up for failure. As he dances with Bethany, he finds she has a love of literature and books just like him, besides being enchanting and as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.
No matter how much they come to love each other, he is a vampire and it is against their law to allow a mortal to know of their kind. Justus will break that law and Bethany accidentally blurts out the truth. Bethany is confined to an insane asylum and Justus is named a rogue and banished.
Eight years pass until Justus finds Bethany again. Together they are on the run across England to find a Master Vampire who will pardon Justus and let the couple be together and safe. On their fast paced trip across England they run into many interesting characters and trials as well as grow to know and love each other all over again.
This is an enjoyable and easy read. Justus and Bethany are definitely deserving of their HEA. I also love when either or both of the main characters love reading and books. The sex scenes are short, but steamy. This story also sticks to the old rules and laws of vampires which makes the historical setting perfect for the story. An overall entertaining addition to the series.

A few days after finishing WYNTER'S BITE, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. In the past, I've enjoyed the Scandals With Bite series quite a bit, but WYNTER'S BITE didn't have the same feel as the previous books in the series, and I didn't like it as much.
One positive is that I did enjoy the characters - Bethany and Justus were great. Both very strong willed and able to do what needs to be done in order to survive their circumstances, they were also super cute together, discussing books and throwing longing glances at each other early on in the book.
Where my problems lie, with WYNTER'S BITE, is the completely ridiculous plot. It seemed like many of the actions taken by the characters were very rash, and not completely in character, or, the reader wasn't given enough background of the character to understand why that character was doing something. For example, Bethany's parents having her locked up in a mental institution after one outburst, while she was a bit doped up after hurting herself, seemed a bit extreme. Then, after Bethany is rescued by Justus, they seem to be caught by every single vampire (after 8 years of Justus managing to be undetected?) in between the institution and their destination.
Lastly, the ending is tied up way too easily. There is a little bit of the miscommunication that is common in historical romance novels - where if the heroine and hero just talked to each other they would have resolved some issues - and that tends toward the annoying, but the solution to all of Justus' and Bethany's problems just was solved in a few pages.
All in all, while I liked the characters, I didn't particularly like the plot of WYNTER'S BITE. If there are more books published in the Scandals With Bite series, I will definitely read them, but this one just wasn't for me.
