Wysong Epigen represents the first important kibble pet food innovation in almost 60 years (patent pending) and moves conventional dry extruded pet foods much closer to the high protein meat-based, starchless foods carnivores are supposed to have. With this food they are certainly given a higher opportunity to enjoy their full, natural health. This food more closely resembles the diet your ferret is meant to eat.

The old formula was excellent then they changed it without informing consumers of the changes they made (the bag does not say it's a new formula). My senior ferret is so sick her situation is becoming critical as to life. She was kept on it for over three weeks. I was told to keep her on it until she adjusted. The vet said her symptoms are so severs she seems like ferrets who have GI cancer. I called Wysong's yesterday and they said the'd replace the bags but the request won't even get looked at until next week. So I'm going to have to put on another kibble in the soup I've been trying to get her to eat to keep her alive. My other 2 year old ferret is sick as well but had a much milder reaction and also had a mix of two kibble a so even though he's not his healthy self - staying away from this food should solve the problem. At this point my confidence has been so shaken I don't know if I'd ever use one of their products again. Obviously if I could give zero stars I would.
My senior ferret died one week ago today. She never recovered from the setback she experienced from the food. Was it the food alone that killed her? I don't know. What I do know is that without this food she would would have lived longer and had a better quality of life.
Wysong's response is reprehensible as they have done nothing to warn consumers not have they pulled this food from the market and so ferrets are continuing to get sick and since I know of a few that have died my suspicion is there are many more deaths.
What will it take for this pet food company to do the right thing?
Then the change happened to the formula, labeled "New and Improved" for better health & nutrition.
Nothing can be said further from the truth, they changed using high quality chicken meat to a commonly-used low grade chicken meal, they altered the probiotics and added "natural flavors". All of which could be causing the GI irritation for many ferrets including my own, as she now has diarrhea that will not end.
Unfortunately I bought a whole case and am working with Wysong to see if I can send back the remaining 3 bags and possibly swap it with any remaining old formula or one of their raw alternatives until I can find a replacement.
