Talk about a brand going down hill.
So... nit picking details...
The box is wonderful and made of solid wood. The inside is VERY cheap thin plastic insert. they have a thin little magnetic strip along the plastic that barely keeps the blades stuck in the cover. If you are careful with it, they will stay in place. Otherwise, they will fall out when you close the box.
on the possitive side, there are so many different blades and devices i dont know i'll be able to find a use for all of them. I'm very tempted to start some odd projects just so i can use some of the odder ones. Anyway, you get alot of variety.... maybe even too much? I wonder if i'll EVER use some of these....
I use Amazon for most of my purchases and update my reviews if anything changes with the products. I do this so other Amazon users can get a real feel for the life of the product. You can look at my review which will be close to my purchase date and tell how the product is doing as time passes. I am not associated with any company and all opinions are my very own.
The inserts on mine hold the blades securely, no complaint there. Have older versions of the handles, so I just swapped them out in place of the new ones, and will thrash those soundly.
The new plane is a total POS, but luckily, I have an older version of that as well, just swapped the blade into the old base, and am giving that away. Nothing is particularly bad about the gouges or the router blades......just a bit of sharpening.
I got the Amazon Warehouse deal, cannot see anything wrong with the packaging, and the price is right. I thought the box would be busted or something, but it looks and works fine.
The box is nice, but it is not made out of wood but MDF. The inlet which holds the parts is just simply awful. It is the same kind you of vacuum pullet plastic inlet you find in a box of fancy chocolates. It does not hold the tools well, though the blades are supposed to keep in the lit by a magnet strip, which sort-of works. However, I do not expect the plastic inlet to survive too many uses.
The tools itself are medium quality. It is a tad better than the those cheap disposable hobby knifes you find for a bug-fifty at your favorite home improvement store.
Where the set shines is with the variety of blades and tools. It comes with three handles, all made of aluminum, one with plastic hand piece for a better grip. Handles feel very light in the hand, which might be good or bad, depending on your preference. The bare aluminum ones have no texture as you might remember from X-acto knifes of the old days. The vise appears to hold the blades ok, but I would be very careful opening and closing it. It does not move smooth and you could easily end up cutting yourself.
The set also includes a couple of carving guages and knifes which fit in the big handle with the plastic hand piece.
There is a wood stripper, made out of plastic, which you can use with a handle to get a straight line. There is a little block plane and a spokeshave which you can use as a little hand planer. Finally a really nice little sanding block is included. Just the right size for small projects. Nice touches I think.
The most important would be the quality of the blades itself. Since I just got the set, I cannot attest to that.Read more ›

I've had this set for several years. The selection of blades and handles is excellent and I have no complaints about typical xacto qulity on their knives and handles. Read morePublished 14 months ago by Happy Ten
Disappointed with the plastic mmolding to hold on to the knives and blades. Blades are constantly tumbling around the case. Read morePublished 14 months ago by ThatDude
Excellent product when I am using the items. Plastic packaging inside box does not hold the blades, etc in position. Overtime I open the box, I've got a mess.Published 20 months ago by Harry
