Looks great as far as knives go. Not sure they could look much better. Functionality, it has all the normal things expected of a knife. The sharp bit as mentioned, a handle as mentioned, and a thumb tightener to hold the blade in. I have found it best to tighten the blade well before trying to do any cuts as without the blade in place, the knife falls a little below standard expectations during the cutting process. With the blade firmly in place, then it cuts very well, which includes skin, if I didn't mention this earlier.
So in summary. It cuts. Nothing fancier than that. I tried to get it to perform other related tasks, but it is not magnetic, does not seem to grip items and It does not appear to take any batteries, so I have not found any other hidden tasks it could perform other then being a knife.
5 Stars, as its a good knife and has taken top spot in my knife hall of fame.
I keep hearing artists saying that their Xacto is the best knife ever and they'd never be without one but I took it to be hyperbole.
Well, it seems it wasn't. This is seriously sharp and works like a scalpel rather than a knife, but still does everything a knife would do. At least in my case when it is only used for cutting paper and thin card stock etc.
Honestly I think I will be buying X-Acto blades from now on. It is awesome and can be used very precisely in a way the usual knives I have used cannot and the blade is thin enough for whatever I can think of yet strong enough that I needn't worry overmuch about it snapping.
Apparently all those X-Acto fans know what they're talking about.
I use it mainly for plastic model kits, but also for paper models where the cut must be flawless, its a lot lighter than swan-morton scalpels so for me the handling is lot easier
Only downside is that replacement blades (Zirconium Nitride-coated blades) for this are very hard to get, but after a month of use i didn't need a new blade so far
