The X-Files Origins: Agent of Chaos (The X-Files Origins, 1) Hardcover – January 3, 2017
Purchase options and add-ons
How did Fox Mulder become a believer? The X-Files Origins has the answers in this young adult, science-fiction origin story from the #1 New York Times-bestselling co-author of Beautiful Creatures, Kami Garcia.
Read this dark thriller to find out why millions of people became obsessed with The X-Files.
In the spring of 1979, seventeen-year-old Fox Mulder has bigger problems than applying for college. Five years ago, his younger sister disappeared from their home and was never heard from again. Mulder blames himself, and his mother blames his father, who has retreated into his top-secret work for the State Department. In Fox’s senior year, his dad has moved him to Washington, DC―away from his friends on Martha’s Vineyard.
While Mulder doesn’t mind the fresh start and not being known as “that kid with the missing sister,” he’s still obsessed with finding Samantha. So when a local boy turns up dead and another child is abducted, Mulder can’t stop himself from getting involved. Could there be a link to his sister’s case? As he uncovers the truth, Mulder and his friends find themselves on the trail of a serial killer.
Sucked into a world where conspiracies, the occult, and madness overlap, Fox Mulder starts to believe.

She's clearly done her homework as this book is riddled with X-Files Easter eggs and references.
I read this book in one sitting and plan on tackling the companion volume, Devil's Advocate, later this week.
If you're an X-Files fan, you'll really enjoy this novel.
Where is this going? I'm obsessed with the X-Files. Although she does show where Mulder's obsession began, it reads like one of Kami's cheeseball teen romance books and one of the main characters is in complete contradiction with the show!!!
I'm sure all you X Files fans will notice it immediately.
And Kami ends stories with no explanation to put it all together and that was just not acceptable to me!
I've started on Devil's Advocate and feel John Maberry is not writing a cheeseball teen romance book about one of the greatest shows of all time.
It’s a fast read would love to see another one written to keep following Mulder
