The stories in this particular X-Men volume range from a bit hokey (but fun) to really trendsetting (Neal Adams, Jim Steranko art). It is interesting because the latter issues were referenced pretty frequently when the new team took off...Sentinels, Sauron, Havoc and Polaris, etc. It's amazing that right when the series was finding itself that it was discontinued and sent into reprint limbo for an extended period of time. I also was not really familiar with the "Origin" stories that started appearing at the end of each issue. Basically you would get a 3 issue or so backstory on each X-Man and how they came to join the team. I really enjoyed these.
Lastly, the intros from the Marvel Masterworks series and the original letter pages are great. The capper is some original artwork and unused covers that are included in the back of the volume. The binding is nice and sturdy and you really feel like all in all you got your money's worth.
5 stars and then some! I am now an addict and will be ordering other Omnibuses (sp?- Omnibi?) in the near future. I'll start with comics I don't currently have and then may even move on to ones that I do. These Omnibuses are THAT good! Highest recommendation!
