The bike arrived late, past the shipping due date, and the final delivery shipper they contracted was clearly incompetent and apparently does not care. They admitted they simply didn't get "around to it", even though the bike had arrived at their dock. They never said anything like they were sorry.
The bike arrived fairly well packed attached to a solid metal frame. That was excellent, but the bolts holding it onto the frame had worked lose and fallen off. As a result the top of the metal frame was loose and held on only by gravity. X-treme, please use lock washers to tie it to the frame.
The bike was in excellent shape after shipping, but the right hand mirror was cracked, and quite a bit of the hardware was missing. I was able to figure out and obtain the hardware at the local store. The cracked mirror was obtained from x-treme customer support by voice. Their web based support is apparently useless, and they never got back to me.
The assembly instructions need to be read careful, and the pictures are next to useless. In some cases the pictures looked like they were placed into the manual incorrectly, and as a result, they are blacked out or just garbage. This does not shed a good light on x-treme.
The front wheel assembly was a bit of a challenge as a result. I figured out that you need to take the "spacer", which was on the front hub bolt when shipped, then use that to space off the wheel on the (drivers) right side. The brake assembly spaces off the left, and the wheel thus sits
equally distant between the front forks. The pictures show none of this.
The other interesting part was the trunk on the back of the frame. Again, the photos are not very helpful, and look like they are for another bike.
I put it on, then used a bolt cutter to both shorten the (very long) bolts and crease the threads. Why? The trunk is supposed to be secure, and could be taken off with a simple wrench. Creasing the threads makes that impossible.
I found the bike almost charged when I plugged it in. You need to flip the switch under the seat to start it charging. It was shipped with that off.
When it was together, the three or four people gathered tried it out with me. The bike is a lot of fun, and goes faster than advertised, 25 miles an hour (which could be a problem with the california below 20 MPH license requirement). We tried to adults on it, it still went well, although the back was sitting fairly low.
With the pedals on, they scraped the ground and got in the way a lot. Unfortunately in California its pretty much a legal requirement to leave them on.
am very happy with my new scooter. Some of the assembly instructions aren't very clear, so some mechanical ability is required. The scooter was well packed, with angle iron frame inside the box, so there was no chance of shipping damage--if the shipping instructions were followed.
