The camera works well in dark situations - the IR feature really shines well. I saw good video well beyond 15 feet. However, they get pretty warm, so the aluminum body is the heat sync. Most of the body is a giant threaded bolt with a tightening ring on it. It's nice that they threw in a couple of angled rings so that the camera can sit level or with a up/down-angle if your application requires it.
I was disappointed by the video quality during daylight when the IR turned off. The video had considerable distortion that made the whole product really cheap, when otherwise it feels really well made. The video noise was so extreme that the camera was not worth using. If you plan to use it purely in the dark, go for it. It's a great price and does very well in the dark. If you need it in daylight too, get a different camera.
The camera came with the angle rings, tightening ring, power adapter wire, and an additional lengthy composite video line. It uses the standard 12V power and can wire directly into a normal surveillance system too. There are no user-adjustable features on the camera - it's auto-iris, auto-IR, auto-focus. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want to do with it.
The camera comes with adapter rings to allow the camera to be mounted at various angles. I didn't use them; I have it looking straight back.
Basically you can tap into the 12 volt power to the reverse light so the camera will only come on when you put the vehicle into reverse this is the quickest and easiest way. Then the all you have to do is get the Video cable from the rear of the vehicle to the dash and plug it into the video input of the Video unit you have in the dash.
Just some notes about the Product performance.
When tapped into the reverse lights it seems to get a little interference when I apply the brakes (lines across the screen that appear and go away not sure if it will happen to everyone).
The color seems to be off sometimes green trees in the distance appear to be pink??????
For the most part it seems to work fine for me I can see clearly behind me when I back up and works great for parallel parking.
One other note you do have to clean the lens on the camera quite often if you don't keep it clean at night when the Lights in the camera come on and if the lens is dirty every thing is very foggy looking and difficult to see.
