I read the reviews on this product and saw that most of the buyers were a little wary of it. But I decided to order two risers anyway. When I unpackaged them, neither of them worked. But here's the thing: There's a contact switch that allows you to test the lights while they're packaged. For some reason that I don't know, the manufacturer decided to attach the contact switch to only one end of the battery (the negative). I didn't notice this try-me switch until I unpackaged the risers, so I didn't get to test the switch. But it is my assumption that it wouldn't have worked since the switch was only connected to one end of the battery. YOU NEED TO REMOVE THIS CONTACT SWITCH. It adds no value to the performance of the LED's. It only draws current when the LED's are in use. You have now solved two problems. The circuit works, and the hole for the hardware is unblocked. But you also ned to replace the batteries. They are really crummy and, on many accounts, have corroded the positive end of the battery case. If your illuminators still haven't worked after removing the switch and the battery casing is corroded, do one or both of the following. (Do both until one works. It doesn't matter which order.) Put a small amount of vinegar on a Q-tip and rub the corrosion with the damp Q-tip. If the casing still appears corroded or you cannot remove the corrosion easily, take an ebony board to it. You don't need to get rid of all the corrosion. Just enough so that the battery can have contact with the casing. Then just replace the batteries. Easy fixes. Fixing the risers and then mounting the on my board took all of 10 minutes. But it's worth it. The only reason that I didn't give this product 5 stars is because the product isn't "ready-to-use" right out of the packaging. Feel free to ask any questions about preparing the risers!

These lights are bright, visible a long way and effective. I do not like the location of the switch, I run 83 mm wheels and it is very cumbersome to power them on and off. The switch is also located above the wheel and I fear moisture damage as the switch is exposed. I love the AA battery option, I used the Energizer E lithium, and haven't changed them yet in 4 weeks. It would be nice if the batteries where more easily accessible, truck removal is necessary to change the batteries. I gave these four stars for performance and effectiveness but must revoke one star for poor labeling by the manufacture. Last I checked a set of trucks are necessary to use a skateboard and these are sold in singles, with no indication of quantity. I also had to remove the "try me" button contact before I could install the unit otherwise the lights stayed on permanently.

*Note these add 1/8" rise.

Recommendations: Rubberized housing with gasket sealed battery doors accessible from the back next to the relocated weather sealed switch.

I bought these thinking it would be cool to skate around with some of the neighbors. I received them and one failed to work right out of the box and the other worked for about 20 minutes before failing. What I find laughable is a week later my neighbors kid came out with two 250 Lumen $10 Harbor Freight flashlights epoxied to the bottom of his board and it actually looked better and much brighter than these ever could have been and best of all it didn't change the height of his board. In all, great idea - poor execution.

Ordered 2 risers and did not work upon opening them. So I returned them for an exchange, thinking they were just faulty. 2nd shipment came with the replacements, guess what? Replacements don't work either, garbage technology that doesn't even work.

I will say that once these go on they function very well and are quite bright. However, they are not in the least bit water resistant and seemingly any small puddle will kill them, also they do not handle shock well and will also go out. They are a huge pain to put batteries in and install and in my opinion, messed up my feel of the board. The rise isn't too high but it is enough to make carving on my longboard more difficult. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone riding short boards especially parents looking to purchase this for a child, my board hit a car tire at a decent speed and one of the units died instantly.

Upon viewing and receiving this product, I was very excited to light up the streets; however, the "try me" button that was on the product when it came, did not give me a preview of what I bought. The lights did not turn on.

Trying to diagnose the issue, I proceed to open the product's packaging to find the batteries popping out of their slots, uncovered and unprotected. without a battery case, it was obvious to me why they had also looked rusty, bloated and lumpy around the middle, and corroded from battery acid leakage. After locating the unlabeled off/"on" switch, I established that the product would not turn on for me.

This coninued to frustrate me. I went downstairs for moar batteries. I do not know why though, because the batteries DO NOT STAY IN THE DEVICE! and the durable plastic they talk about it being made from? The batteries provide enough force to bend said plastic as they pop out of place.

This is a poorly made product that needs to leave the market. It wasted my time and money for other potential buys. Never trying this product again. Way too many ISSUES and I didn't even get to enjoy it. At all.
This shopping experience has been nothing but expenses to me.
