Second - To play this, you will need to have an Xbox Live Gold membership. They are moderately priced but keep this in mind when you are budgeting. (The trail will end sooner than you think). I would guess this applies when buying any Xbox given how most popular games, i.e Fortnite, Sea of Thieves, PUBG all are purely online, meaning you couldn't play them unless you have an Xbox Live Gold membership. I also would guess regardless of your bundle or if your just buying the console, you probably want to play at least one of these at some point.
Xbox Live Gold Rates are:
$10 for one month
$25 for three months
$60 for a year
Im recalling this from memory, so do double check if you are serious in buying this bundle. I personally bought the yearly membership so that way i got the most for my money and so that i didn't have to always worry about when i had to dish out money next so i could keep playing my games
Setup: Setup was completely painless, hardest part was opening up the box.
Make sure when plugging in your HDMI cord, its plugged into the port that supports the highest frame rate (Hz) so that way you get the most out of your gaming experience, this can be found in a TV user manual which most likely you threw away or lost, or you can look it up if you happen to know which model of TV your using, which again, unlikely, or most TV's display the Hz and Image Quality when you first change into that imput and start the system in that imput, or if thats too confusing, trial and error. If your game is choppy or skipping. Its most likely because the port you plugged into had a slower frame rate. Just switch the port and try again.
Frame rate is important to everyone, casual or pro. For any console to play at a good quality, you will need a 60 Hz Frame Rate. Now the games will play at lower but its visible that the game is choppy. Almost all TVs support this 60 Hz framerate, but on the budget TVs its usually only on one HDMI. Make sure thats the one you plug into.
Screen Quality - While it may seem like you have to use 4k displays now that you have a 4k capable system, just know, it looks just as fine on a 1080p HD display too. Unless you just have plenty of money to dish out on new tech. Just stick to what you have or limit yourself to 1080p max. Even 1440p is plenty enough. Just trust me on this, you'll save yourself a pretty penny.
Accessories: I recommend that at some point you get your self some rechargeable battery packs for your controllers, I use the bebonco ones - great quality for the price. And for this console in particular, not necessarily needed since you have 1 tb of storage, but if you are running on a 500 mb system or a 1 tb but you plan on downloading plenty of games on the store, a Seagate External Hardrive will add so much storage and versatility to your console. I personally haven't needed one yet but many of my close friends do have them and love them. You'll know its the right one because it should have Xbox branding along with the Seagate name. And just incase you didn't know, The system takes up around 250 Gb of your storage give or take straight out of the box before you even start it up, so a 500 Gb console is more about a 350 Gb of free space console and a 1 Tb is about 750ish Gb of space. But dont fret, most games are not much larger than 50 Gb. And games like Sea of Thieves and Fortnite are only about 15 Gb.
Experience with the working console:
Personally my wifi is absolute trash so everything was quite slow compared to what im going to tell you. Because I can guarantee that your wifi is much better than mine.
When you first install the system and boot it up, the Xbox will prompt you to choose a few settings and eventually after a few minutes of that, an update. The update is only about 1 gb so for most people, this shouldn't take too long. ive heard its usually from 20 to 35 minutes depending on wifi quality. mine took two hours BUT thats only because my family was streaming netflix and everyone was using social media and taking up bandwidth. Plus our wifi is already slow when nobody is on it.
*Theres no way around the update it is mandatory for the system.*
Then once it was all booted up you finish your settings and the system runs as normal. Now you can go to their game store and enter in the code on your sheet delivered to you with the console, and this should unlock the game and let you start downloading immediately. Sea of Thieves in particular is only 15 Gb and Fortnite is just about 13 Gb. Both of these games separately usually take anywhere from one to two hours. If you have no games already installed then just let it sit and do its thing. But if lets say you want to Download Sea of Thieves but you already have Fortnite installed. You can keep downloading games in the background while you play and even check its progress from time to time by tapping the home button. I love this because then it doesn't seem like your waiting forever for it to finish.
So sorry for the long rant, but I hope you found it helpful and detailed. And if you end up buying the console. I personally read reviews a lot and it helped me make an educated purchase, so do help out your fellow Amazon Shoppers and leave a review with anything you had trouble with, how to work through those troubles, and opinions on the product, everything you'd want people to know before they buy it. We all appreciate it. Hopefully you get what your looking for.
And when you get your Xbox when you shut it off it might make a weird little sound go into the settings and then go into power and startup I believe and change it to energy saver it should stop the humming
