Easy to install. I have seen sooo many tutorial videos on how to do it. Took me 10 minutes. This was my first time even soldering anything.
I don't know why people say its hard. You just get a glob on your soldering iron and nock off the GREEN LED by covering it and flick it off. Then take the BLUE LED and make sure your polarity is correct and touch it on the contact points and touch each side with the tinyest bit of solder ON the LED. There you go. Recommend seller Modd3rzUnlimit3d for best quality!
When people say they are dim and not bright, they really need to just change their batteries because these LEDs are not like Xbox 360s. Over time the LEDs darken because of battery life. Just change batteries.
Just be very careful removing the original leds from your remote I had some of my contacts actually come off the board (xbox) but other than that I love this product, the way it is packed, and the instructions are the cherry on top. I will definitely be buying more!
I dropped one LED and lost it in the carpet somewhere, so I suggest you do this on a solid color table with a hard floor under it. I ended up breaking a second LED due to carelessness.
After I found out the guide told me the wrong direction, I got the player 1 and player 2 LED's to work. They look amazing! I will be ordering another set of LEDs so I can get the rest of the ring lit.
The only con is that they come with 4 LEDs, they should come with 5 because they are very easy to lose.
Now down to installation. If you are new at soldering, I would not recommend you even try. They are difficult to install, considering they are so small and can't even be picked up with the pinch of your fingers. So not are they extremely difficult to see, but then you need to make sure you are installing them in the right direction. This means that you need to find out each of the 4 positive and negative directions on the board, then find out which is positive and negative on the LED itself. It can be quite hard. Also, it is a must that you stick with a low wattage soldering iron, anywhere between 25 and 40 watts should be sufficient. If you go too high, you could not only be melting the board, but the LED can melt extremely quickly. Also I would not recommend doing this alone. You'll need one person to hold down the LED with a pair of tweezers while the other solders it down.
But in the end, if you are successful, they look great. But like mentioned in the title, these are extremely overpriced here on Amazon. You need 4 LED's for the controller, and most sellers give you 5 in case you mess up or lose one (which they get lost a LOT). All for around $8.00 with shipping. But on one of Amazon's largest competing websites (you know what I am talking about), you can buy the same exact SMD 0603 LED's, 100 of them, for less than $12.00. I would recommend buying them from there.
