Okay, so I got here and this app only had one review - a one star review, not very helpful, but I will admit that it put me in a biased position when getting this game. And when I first installed it and started playing, the opening birthday scene was not eye-catching enough to change my mind. However, it did end up being a pretty cute game (after the first world, at least). I'm honestly surprised as to how addicting this game actually is.

The gameplay itself is pretty good. You're basically going through an obstacle course, collecting ammo, blowing up skeletons and lamps, avoiding the light, killing other bats with light, and clearing pathways. All of the gameplay is physics-based, so aiming your ammo just right can get tricky. Each time you aim, your previous attempt is also shown as a guide. Your ultimate goal is to reach the lady at the end of the level and watch the little vampire enjoy his meal (or some other comical scene, depending on the level).

After you clear each level, you are given a certain number of points based on how many times you either missed a shot with a bomb or stone or how many times you died in the level. You are also given coins, which you can use to buy emergency ammo rations and solutions that you can use when you get stuck. Lastly, you're given a certain number of skullheads proportional to your score. You can earn up to three of these per level. As far as I can tell, they are used to unlock things from the last screen of the menu. What those things are, I do not know yet.

I had a bit of difficulty at the beginning understanding the controls and the objective but it's probably because I didn't pay close enough attention to the opening sequence and also I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes :) Once I figured out what I was supposed to be doing, I found it fairly entertaining. The physics are similar to Angry Birds, although it certainly doesn't have the variety.

After a few levels I am finding it fairly challenging. While the challenges are similar to Angry Birds, as another reviewer mentioned, the controls are a little too sensitive. I haven't yet figured out the scoring -- how the coins are awarded or what it means when you "die".

While I have never been considered prudish, I also have to agree with the reviewer that found the depiction of the girl too sexualized for a game that's meant for children as well as adults. The first glimpse one get of her is of her heaving chest! It's amusing, but a just a little too much.

Update: I'm up to level 13 and am starting to feel frustrated. Some reviewers say the game is too easy but I'm finding it pretty difficult. Figuring out the strategy can be hard to begin with and once you figure out what you need to do, you have to get the positioning, aim, and velocity exactly right. The main problem I have is the controls. Dragging your finger both moves the screen and launches the bombs/rocks - which means that when I'm trying to pan the screen to see where I'm aiming, I sometimes launch a missile by mistake. Or when I'm trying to launch, the screen moves. Also, unlike Angry Birds, where you can see your birds and your targets if you pan out, with this game you can't pan out so can only see parts of the picture.

I got this app because it was the app of the day. The app is pretty simple to play and the objective is to simply get to the sleeping princess as fast as you can while taking out obstacles along the way. You have to try not to touch the lights. You'll be using rocks, bombs, and other things to take them out.

When you use rocks, bombs, or any other item to take the obstacles out sometimes you have to think before you act because, you only have a limited supply of amo and you might need to set off a chain reaction of events to take out the lights.

PRO's:
+ Simple Controls.
+ Very simple UI.
+ Kills time when you're bored.
+ Funny animations.

CON's:
- Could have more control options.
- They could've made it more challenging.

Conclusion:
The game is simple and easy. Great game for this time of year. The graphics are good. Cartoon style so it doesn't scare the kids. To be honest though, if it wasn't the free app of the day I don't see myself actually buying it. That's up to you guys to decide. Give it a shot while it's the app of the day and let everyone know how you feel about it. Thanks for reading and hope you guys enjoy.

V for Vampire is a physics-based puzzle game where you as the vampire try to reach the helpless maiden by navigating around various hazardous obstacles such as lanterns, skeletons holding lamps, and other vampire bats. The backstory is told via cute animated cut-scenes - basically, it's your (vampire's) birthday, and this entire adventure is a bday gift from Frankenstein and the rest of the ghouls and monsters. It almost sounds like they got him some sort of weird Groupon deal :) But I digress.

The game is pretty polished with nice graphics, animation, music and sound effects. It's impressive seeing that this is a version 1.0 release from the developer. The initial stages do a decent job as a guided tutorial, teaching the various gameplay elements. After playing through the tutorial, I found myself decently entertained but also slightly frustrated with the control for targeting and moving around. Basically, you pull back from the vampire a la Angre Birds to fire your ammo. To cancel your shot, you hold and drag the control back to the vampire. To move the vampire around, you tap on the area of the map you want him to go. Several times, I accidentally fired shots when I tried to move or cancel the shot. It would be great if the developer can tweak the control sensitivity so it's not so trigger happy.

The only other thing is maybe more levels with tougher puzzles. The game has a built-in cheat sheet/solution guide for when you get stuck. I haven't needed to open it yet.

Actual installed footprint on the phone was 35.83 MB, right where it's supposed to be. The permissions required aren't too excessive, and I didn't encounter any ads or force closes/crashes.

Overall, this is an entertaining game that's great for killing time. It fits right in with Halloween just around the corner. As the free app of the day, it's definitely worth checking out.
