How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsFast multifunction with low wait times
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on April 26, 2014
Had a 6180 before this that was well-built and a real workhorse. The 6605 is almost as good. Feels like its built more cheaply, but it functions well. Its wake-up time is fast, and the fuser stays warm for raid print speeds. Pretty happy with it.

I've seen other reviews of MFPs where people were trying to get the fax working with VoIP/Von@ge/IP lines. They gave low ratings because they couldn't get faxing working. Faxes require ANALOG LINES. Don't try to connect the fax to IP phone lines on any MFP device.

2.0 out of 5 starsDamaged Envelopes and Copy Limit
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on August 4, 2016
The printer itself is ok. The set up for the printer took over 6 hours because it took the printer that long to find the IP address. Once the printer was finally connected to the network, it wouldn't print from every computer in the office. We had to have technical support come out and fix the issue. During the time we waited for technical support to come assist us, we found out that the printer would destroy an envelope. We used the sticky adhesive kind due to the amount of envelopes we print a day. The printer heated them to such an extent that the sticky part would crinkle into the front of the envelope, and then it would smash the back half of it, making it completely unsuitable for business use. Technical Support said it was just our printer and he would try it on the same printer at their office. We then stopped trying to print envelopes. It worked fine for the first few days after that. Then we kept getting an "Copy Limit Error" message whenever we tried to copy anything. We called the technical support back and they told us it could be any number of things. He told us it was probably the system in the printer that would not read whatever we were trying to copy. We then told him that if we can't print envelopes and cant make copies, then this printer has to go back. He told us to just request the return on Amazon and they would come pick up the item as they are located in the same town as us. Upon requesting a refund, they then told us there was going to be a 15% restocking fee since we used the printer. Needless to say, we were livid! I ended up telling the girl that since her company told us to return the printer, that we will not be paying the restocking fee since it was a printer system error. She then told us that since we used ink that they couldn't resell it as new. I then had to tell her that if she continued to sell the item again, it still wouldn't work. It took about 48 hours for them to call us and tell us that we were cleared of a restocking fee. Needless to say, its been a terrible experience all around and we caution anyone from buying this printer.

Pros:
- Prints fast
- Nice size for small to medium sized office

Cons:
- Damages envelopes
- Copy Limit Error that doesn't allow the copy function to work at all
- The printer will not send scanned items onto the computer as PDFs, but at JPEGS and it is a tedious task to convert every page.

This machine worked fine for three weeks when I had to cal Xerox about vertical lines on the paper. Xerox could not help me because the serial number on the machine was not registering as a Xerox machine. Totally unbelievable. I was so frustrated I had Amazon to pick it up. I paid $899.00 for the machine and they only refunded $678. back. Again unbelievable. I will not make any large purchases from Amazon in the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars Color toner goes fast even when you print int Black and white

Xerox support is useless. They could not recognize my serial number because I did not purchase it from them directly, thus they could not give me any help when I called to ask them why I went through two sets of color toner cartridges in two months when I only print in black and white 90% of the time.

It also smells bad when you print, kind of like a cross between burnt hair and olives stuck in a panini press.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but has a major scanning flaw for large volume scanning
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on January 18, 2017
This machine is used in a busy insurance office as a printer and network scanner. It has a major flaw as a scanner - there is no option to have the machine ignore blank pages. We are scanning large numbers of files to transition to a paperless system, but we have no way to efficiently remove the many blank pages that exist in documents that are a combination of single and 2-sided pages. The option to ignore or remove blank pages is available even on most inexpensive scanners from big box retailers. Very disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, yet disappointed
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on December 18, 2015
As mentioned by other reviewers, the firmware is lacking in these particular models. Unfortunately the fuser failed within one month of purchase. Scheduling a service call through Xerox is always an interesting experience.Even though I mentioned that it was the fuser multiple times during multiple phone encounters, the technician brought several boards with him.

On a positive note, the print quality is satisfactory. Processing speed could always be better, however we are satisfied with its performance. While I would typically expect much more from a multifunctional unit in this price range, this particular model does fairly well when it is working properly. In all honesty, I would search for a different manufacture or spend more and obtain a higher-quality Xerox model.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor performance for this printer class
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on April 2, 2013
It works, but you should not expect the same firmware features as found in larger Xerox printers. The firmware is ridden with limitations and annoyances.

It is priced less comparing to other vendor's printers of similar specs, but you get what you pay for.

The printer and scanner are not very fast, wake-up time is a bit long, all speeds are just borderline for office use. The printer is sometimes extremely slow (minutes per page) to print certain types of documents, including some PDFs and some web pages printed from Firefox.

The scanner firmware is poorly written: it would not automatically detect paper size, would not allow custom paper size (choice is limited to a handful of common formats), and it produces too large files. The most annoying "feature" is when I press the Scan button, it would give a little message "please press the Scan button while on the main options screen" instead of just doing the damn scan. One good thing about this scanner software is that it automatically splits large scans into several emails. However it mostly needs this because it does not compress scans as efficiently as better printer models at the same scan resolution.

With additional paper tray installed, it does not automatically switch to another tray when one goes out of paper. 2nd tray is loaded with paper of the same size and type, yet it goes "Out of paper". After loading paper the driver status is stuck to "Out of paper" until I reboot Windows. I've upgraded printer firmware to the latest and am using latest driver, so the software is definitely sloppy.

Also the touchscreen has poor sensitivity and is slightly difficult to operate.

Again it works, but I wish I considered higher-priced models for my office.

1.0 out of 5 stars Average multifunction printer w/ terrible service
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on May 27, 2014
I bought this for the office after considering several multifunction printers since the price seemed fair for what it is. It's print quality is just so-so and only dwindles from that. Its a little slow on boot up and print common documents like emails, PDFs and word. It takes several minutes to process a 10 slide power point. Printing aside... the interface and UI panel is awful. When you need to do diagnostics or check a status of some part, the interface makes it difficult, sometimes impossible to see whats wrong. The only kind of cool thing is that the Scanner/ Scan to flash drive feature works well. But its shortcoming is that you have no control on where or what the directory you want your scanned file to go to.

When you finally need to replace the waste toner or roller or any other part minus the toner cartridges, you MUST order through Xerox. I've ordered a waste toner bin replacement (you can't empty out the old one...) almost 2 weeks ago and they are still "processing" my order. If anything goes wrong with it, you can call Xerox and only Xerox. I wouldn't mind that they've made a proprietary setup if they could follow through with their 4-Year Service agreement that cost an additional couple hundred. My Printer is producing a poor print quality after less than a year of use. So when I call support to get a some help on the matter, I get sent a bunch of images on how to clean it myself. All PDFs that are freely available online.

I would strongly recommend against getting this printer due to Xerox being the only option for parts and service. Not a great long term buy.

Sidenote: I have reason to believe that Xerox will sell/share your information with 3rd party companies since I was contacted by a printer supply company only a few days after I received the printer. I have no actual proof if they did or not, but it seems highly circumstantial that the 3rd party company had my office phone number days after I ordered directly from Xerox.

We have had this machine for about 3 months. It works fine. I agree with others that the wake up time is a little slow.My main complaint is the user guide. It is in 6 languages yet gives very little information. You want to know how to use the address book and speed dial? Good luck with that.
