From the manufacturer
Curved for a better feel:
The 2.5D curved glass has an aesthetic edge over typical flat glass. It looks better and feels a lot smoother when you tap and swipe your fingers across the screen.

About the Product
Power on slim with 4100mAh battery:
Thanks to an overall design upgrade, the 4100mAh powerhouse has never looked better. 2.5D curved glass and slimmer, tapered edges deliver great hand feel. It also offers better sustained performance on a 14nm FinFET Snapdragon 625 processor and up to 4GB of RAM. We've also added power to pixels with a 13MP CMOS camera for amazing low-light results
Snapdragon 625, 20% more power-efficient
Redmi Note 4 is supercharged by Snapdragon 625, an octa-core processor chip that uses the most advanced 14nm FinFET technology. It is 20% more power efficient than Redmi Note 3, and is bound to put more power in your pocket.
Game on with up to 4GB RAM:
Expect a smoother gaming experience with up to 4GB RAM and 14nm FinFET technology.
It is this winning combination that delivers more thermal reduction and greater sustained performance.
Also comes with up to 64GB of storage.
13MP CMOS camera, stunning in low light:
Redmi Note 4 uses a noise-eliminating CMOS sensor with backside illumination (BSI) and larger pixels to give you stunning images even in low light.
It also comes with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) for 0.1s ultra-fast focusing, which is especially useful for shooting moving objects.
Designed for progress:A stunning new look with 2.5D curved glass and slimmer, tapered edges. Complete with a bevelled frame and glossy separation lines, Redmi Note 4 is the definition of power - with a touch of class. The gentle 2.5D curves soften the edges of the Redmi Note 4 display, adding to the clean, minimal aesthetic as much as it does to hand feel.Made of anodized aluminum in a premium high-gloss CNC finish, the elegant separation lines showcase how perfection, is a lot of little things done right. The tapered edges and bevelled frame create a visually slimmer silhouette and enhance hand feel as Redmi Note 4 rests in the curve of your hand.

I intend on using a T-Mobile MVNO to test and see if I have any connectivity issues there too and I will update the review as needed.
I will say, I have not had LTE speeds on the phone, but I knew that when I purchased the phone, but 3G and 4G have been consistent with the AT&T MVNO.
The phone looks and feels more premium than the cost. The screen, which is only a 1080p LCD, has fooled several people in to thinking it was a 2K or 4K display. The display is very bright and the color dynamic is brilliant. The finger print scanner is fast and pretty accurate. I am still learning some of the features it has built in to it. I will admit I have not used the phone for gaming much, but others have discussed all of that pretty in depth. I have had people guess the phone at close to double the actual cost.
I will say, I was skeptical about MIUI. I have been using Nova Launcher on all my phones for a while and have become very spoiled. However, I am finding myself liking MIUI. The customization ability is almost infinite and there are a lot of "official" themes and a lot of "unofficial" themes available. One thing I was very impressed with, was within 24 hours of booting up the phone, it updated to the latest version of the Global ROM (188.8.131.52), went from Android 6.0 to 7.0 and now has one of the more recent Android Security Patches (July 2017).
There are a couple of features, I have not seen anyone discuss before, which I find interesting. First, there is a feature to "tune" your audio experience to whatever type of headphone you are wearing...and you can even assign the headphone button functions, if you so choose. Secondly, the LED notification light has customizable colors, at least on the SD variant, which is handy when I just want to glance at the phone.
The only downsides I can really come up with, is there is no NFC (which I have never personally used) and the "extras" (case, screen protector, etc...) can be a bit difficult and even confusing to find and/or buy.
There are apparently 3 different names, for the 2 different "platform" versions of the phone. There is a Redmi Note 4, which has the Helio X20 platform; the Redmi Note 4X, which has the Snapdragon 625 platform; and a Redmi Note 4, which also has the Snapdragon 625 platform.
In very general terms, the Redmi Note 4X and the Redmi Note 4 SD variant are identical. At the top of the phone, the IR Blaster is in a different position from the Helio X20 variant (which is centered) and then at the charging port on the bottom, there are no screws on the 4X or the 4SD. As near as I can tell, as far as the extras go, if it is a RN4 with the SD platform then items designated for the RN4X will fit it just fine.
If there are any changes I will be sure to update the review.
There are other reviews saying they received the mediatek version but the one I got was the Qualcomm snapdragon chip, it is a south American market version. It comes with goggle services pre loaded and I can choose USA as my location. I'm on T-Mobile and have no problems connecting to 4g. The screen is as big as a iPhone 6+ but the over all size of the phone is a little smaller. The battery life is insane even with heavy usage/gaming. The Bluetooth range is as good as the mi 4, about 50ft unobstructed, 30ft if there are obstructions.
The only negative I can see is the beveled glass screen, it makes the phone look nice but at the cost of increasing the chance of cracking if you drop it. It would have been a lot better with a flat screen. The user interface MIUI is also a bit bloated but it's easy to use, I just wish they'd slim it down. It takes up a good chunk of the phones memory. Overall I'm very happy with this.
I received the Snapdragon 625 version, and my US T-Mobile/MetroPCS service works like a charm. LTE always-on, never dropping to H+ in the same area my OPO does.
Call quality is excellent, bluetooth pairs with anything I throw at it.
It's very snappy in comparison to the OPO so even performance warranted an upgrade. While I'm not big on a phone doing more than my essentials, it's still nice to not have downgraded from a high end SoC from 2014.
Feels and looks nice, where it's got a heft and rigidity to it that belies the sub<$200 price mark.
The 2nd slot being open for SIM#2 or an SD card is great engineering; I used it for the SD card support which I was sorely missing.
Newer cards work fine. I tried a 256gb, but am keeping a 128gb Micro SD card in it.
Camera is mid-range. Good by budget or midrange standards, but it's obviously not going to hold up to the high end phones. Improvement over my OPO at least, I'd rate is as better than most phones in the price range, easily. ($158 at the time of purchase, come on).
Battery life, you heard it all. 4100mah battery in a phone is a good thing.
MIUI (upgraded from stock 8 to 9 via built-in updater).
Love this. I was fully expecting to overwrite this with a custom ROM but I'm keeping it.
So many great features done better than some of the crap more well-known companies shove into their phones.
Split view, awesome. More useful than I'd considered until I finally tried it.
Per app password and power profiles. Brilliant to have right out of the box.
Memory management seems odd. It has a way of using up a lot of memory, but also clears it quick. It hasn't gotten slow or congested due to this, so given the snappy nature in use I'd guess they engineered right.
Overall, unexpectedly, MIUI is a keeper for me.
This phone's my new price, performance, features.champ. Buy it if you're even on the fence.
