Good price and good heat dissipation. Fan has pretty good airflow and isn't terribly loud. Direct touch heat pipe makes for good heat transfer. Using with an Athlon X6 stock speed. Idle temps are below room temperature with Cool N' Quiet enabled. When under load in a game such as Crysis or Battlefield temp stays around 90F.

My PC was running too hot, and the noise from the fans ramping up was really getting annoying. This cooler brought the temps down radically, and not just for the CPU - seems to have improved the air flow inside the case. The fan is much quieter, too. I did have to remove the motherboard to install it, but it was not hard to do, and the mounting method seems a lot more secure than Intel's stock push pins. Doesn't crowd anything, either. I used Shin-Etsu thermal paste. Very pleased with the purchase, and I highly recommend this cooler.

This is the sink that I use on my Phenom I 9850BE system, and have been doing so since I built it back in 2008. I use two 92mm high speed case fans on it, and even with that I have often felt like it ran a little hot under a full load, like say 52C. That said, I'm talking about extended periods of 100% CPU in the summer, and mind you this is a version 1 Phenom 9850BE, which even non-overclocked has a bad reputation for running hot. Also bear in mind that this system has been taking it up the proverbial backdoor from me for all 7 years and I never had to replace a CPU or any other part due to failure. Anyway, with mine, I use a push-pull setup on the fans, and I have to periodically (every few months) take the fans off and vacuum a mat of lint, cat hair, and dust out of mostly the intake side. It doesn't outright kill the cooling when it builds up, because as the dust accumulates on the intake side, more air begins to pull through the sides of the sink because they are open as well. I just notice an ever increasing low-load temperature on CoreTemp, so I eventually do something about it.

The sink is solid, efficient (high temps fall FAST when those fans spin up full), and very quiet when load is low to average, owing to the cooling being distributed to two fans (2 fans = 1/2 the speed for the same amount of cooling as 1 fan). This is similar to how a quadcopter is much quieter than a single rotor heli, for those in the hobby. With my setup, I used my electronics hobbyist knowledge to build a simple external MOSFET speed controller that uses a thermistor sensor to vary power supply to the two fans, coming straight from a free molex connector right at the power supply.

This cooler has done me well for several years. It will soon treat someone else just as well.

Pros: Feels VERY solid when attached, very quiet (some dislike the rubber fan mounts, I LOVE them, no vibration!) comes with an extra set of the rubber mounts for when you add your second fan. Cools my X4 955 Black Edition Overclocked keeping me well under 60c with stock voltage. Cheap for what you're getting, easily a Zalman competitor! Not heavy enough that I'd be worried about warping a motherboard.

BEASTLY ;)

I will be selling this cooler and the additional fan from its push pull set-up for 20 dollars (after 3 years of use!) for a closed loop liquid cooler from Antec.

Cons: The fins are very flexible and tend to get bent a little during fan install. Its large size could be seen as a con for some motherboards (interfering with ram heat sinks).

I needed to replace my stock heat sink on my i5 and this product gained my attention because it was cheap(er) and had good reviews. The product was easy to install, but time consuming since you have to install the back plate to hold it. The heat sink is extremely easy to seat. Lowered my cpu temps from ~45c(using arctic silver and stock heatsink) to ~38c at idle(using arctic silver). I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap alternative to a stock heatsink.
