First, the adjustment levers. The locking levers are flush mounted against the inside of each joint, and are set in from the edges of the ladder to keep them from snagging on anything if the ladder is repositioned. To open, gently pull one of the segments apart until it locks into place. To move to the next locking position, simple lift on the latch lever on each side until each locks in the open notch. Move the ladder segment to the next position (it will automatically lock in place) until you have the angle you want.
Continue unfolding until you have the structure you want. The wide thick rubber foot extenders make the ladder very stable. This amazing swiss army knife of a ladder should fit any project you might have or come up with. Use your imagination on positions. All locked positions I have found are very stable.
The unit easily configures to whatever the current need and is solid and stable. I'd been looking at these kind of ladders for sometime before purchasing this one. I should have bought it years earlier!
I have two ladders, a 6' for around the house use, and this ladder for occasional high-reaching around 2nd story gutters and the like.
I've tried using this ladder for a variety of different folds to renovate a 10' ceiling. All of which were quite timely to organize and required a great deal of manuevering space to perform. Aside from this, you have to keep in mind that only the ends of the ladder have rubber feet, and when doing some folds (that they advertise in icons on the ladder) in which the middle of the ladder is used as one of the ends, you can damage your floor or wall a great deal.
In about 90% of times I needed to reach a high place, I resorted to using my 6' standing ladder because it's much easier to handle and manuever around the room.
Oh, and the ladder is about 1" too wide to place between two beams 16" apart. So if you're planning on using it to gain access to an attic, you have to lean the ladder against one of the beams (which is a hazard because you'll likely knock your head on other beams as you climb the ladder) or you'll have to remove a beam to give you the clearance.
My recommendations for purchasing this ladder:
- Compact for easier storage.
- 12' Ladder is a good height to have around the house.
- Aluminum is light weight and durable.
- Works for folding techniques which utilize both feet.
Keep in mind:
- You will need lots of room to fold and un-fold this ladder, think of it as 6' radius of free space needed.
- The middle sections can damage a surface if placed on an object. (Use only rubber feet against floor and/or wall)
- Not made for anchoring inbetween beams 16" apart.
I was worried that he always uses a standard ladder without any one to hold it. But with this product I can feel safer knowing its more sturdy.
After stating that I do not recommend buying it from toolprice.com on Amazon. If you were to visit there website and have any questions about the product don't bother calling them, they are not there at all, they don't even have bankers hours.
So prepare to email them questions and wait a long time for a response.
