Don't expect them to cut hardened wire, piano wire, etc. There are other tools for that. I don't think you will find a better hobby flush cutter for this price.
If you can cut in or near the center they work very well, but for the work I do the tip is needed to cut.
They are an excellent well made tool, unfortunately they do not work for MY intended application. I intentionally put the review at three stars so this review would be featured in the event someone else might benefit from this info.
The Xuron LX Micro Shear Flush Cutter will produce a nice cut much closer to the end and work on most of the applications I has in mind for the 410 I purchased.
If you can cut near the center or farther back you will love 410, if you have clearance issues use the LX or 2175 pliers.
I bought these to cut parts from the sprue for gundam model kits. Having a very flush cut helps so you don't have to do much scraping with a hobby knife and sanding to leave a nice smooth surface with no nub marks. if you put these flush to the part and cut, one blade will dig into the part at times and the other will cut above it. I cant say that I am unhappy with them though i still use them... i just do not use to them to cut too close to the part, which kinda defeats the purpose i suppose hahaha they do cut with almost no effort though, super sharp and build quality is amazing, the rubber grip feels really good in your hand. I included a picture of the cutters so you can see the blades.
Biggest issue is that they will not cut hardened wire or cable without some damage. So steel cable or ground sheath is a no-go. Just be aware of that when you purchase these. Otherwise, I use them all the time for everything. Get something different for the hard steel stuff.
I came away astonished at the improvement in quality of these shears over the Games Workshop brand I was using.
Extremely sharp, these shears are also made of a high carbon steel, and are thinner than the Games Workshop brande and make a very clean cut on the flat side and the thinner blades create less warping on the side opposite the cut.
Highly recommended for plastic models
