I should've bought TWO!
This extension cable perfectly connects a Leef Access (microSD card to micro USB 2.0 adapter - amazon.com/dp/B00J2D7R20 ) to my Samsung Galaxy S5 with the Lifeproof case on it (the Leef won't plug into the S5 without removing the Lifeproof case, otherwise).

    This one works for my Seek Thermal Camera as an extension that allows me to keep my phone in the Otterbox case while using the thermal camera. The only thing I need to remember is that the Seek Thermal app counts on the camera to be in the same position that it would be in when attached directly to the phone. So, I can't hold the camera upside down and expect to get a right-side-up image. Works great though. The seller shipped it quickly and the price was right. Highly recommend.

    I bought this cable to attach a Flir One thermal imaging camera to my Samsung S7 smart phone. The Flir One literature made it sound like a necessity. Actually it isn't, but for the price, I couldn't go wrong. In fact, having a cable lessens the chances of bending the USB connection if the phone is dropped. I found that by putting a rubber band around the phone and camera I could arrange the camera in the proper orientation on the front side of the phone. The cable is just long enough to do this. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because "loving" a cable just seemed bizarre.

    This did the job exactly as you would expect. I bought it because I had an attachment I was trying to use (Seek XR) on my phone while the phone was in a lifeproof case. As it was, I didn't have enough length to plug it in and this extension resolved that issue for me. The only thing that didn't work out for me is that, particular to the Seek XR, I had hoped to have enough length to put that camera next to the phone camera (taping it in place) and this is a relatively short extension cord so it just didn't extend that far. Certainly no problem of the cable's but worthwhile info to anyone that may be considering this for the same reason that you may want to opt for longer, 12 inch by my guess.

    Ok, a two star rating may be a little unfair since it is partially my fault, but this cable does not work for my purposes. I bought this cable for use in a custom charging dock I'm making, but it will not work to simply extend a charging micro usb cable. This is because the cable is an OTG adapter. It is meant for USB on the go (OTG) devices which turns your phone into the USB host (instead of a peripheral as it usually is when you charge it or connect it to a computer). Basically, other devices are meant to draw power from and send data to your phone. Due to this, at least with my phone (HTC One M8), it will not allow the phone to be charged through this cable, making it useless and a waste of money for my purposes. My bad for not knowing about OTG, but still doesn't work. I still don't like it.

    Strange thing, it charges fine when the phone is powered off...still useless for my purposes.

    Second thought, bumping it up to 3 stars. It's my fault for not knowing about OTG, but still, word of warning. If you are looking to use this for any sort of charging purposes, don't get it.

    Did some further testing. It will charge older phones (it worked with my Samsung GS3), but not newer phones I'm guessing. Not working with my HTC One M8 and as another review stated, not with the Samsung GS5.

    This is the cable you want if you only want to plug in On-The-Go (OTG) capable devices sometimes. The issue is the OTG indicator pins are already shorted together, so it is always in OTG mode. In other words, no charging or syncing (4-Wire mode) capabilities with this cable. If you want to actually extend all 5-Wires of the port so you can charge/sync and also plug in OTG devices, then you'll need the full 5-Wire version (B0134XUJN2). Don't be confused by the other 4-Wire cable that only does charging and syncing, but doesn't do OTG. Per the USB spec, the 5th wire is shorted to indicate the connected device needs the phone in OTG mode and it is left disconnected/floating when in charge/sync mode, so if you want to be able to do both, then the 5th wire has to be extended from the phone to the end of the extension. In other words unless you know you will never use this extension for anything other than OTG devices, you don't want it.
