Product Description

Limited edition box set from the world's biggest death metal act.

About the Artist

The infamous CANNIBAL CORPSE really needs no introduction. They continue to thrive as the world's most productive and top selling Death Metal act. This box set encapsulates the bands first fifteen years and includes not only the band's hand picked "Best of", but historical gems long sought after on the bootleg circuit. The footage from "Live in Moscow" is particularly rare as is the "Created To Kill Sessions", which eventually became the album "Vile". "Created To Kill" was original vocalist Chris Barnes' (Six Feet Under) last contribution to the band. Barnes' original vocal tracks and lyrics were scrapped and the album was re-named on his departure from the group. The box set also includes a, limited to the first 2,000, autographed poster, a CANNIBAL CORPSE guitar pick, and a long awaited "Unleashing The Bloodthirsty" comic book.

I'll begin by saying that I've had this box set for about three weeks now and I still can't get enough of it. Of the four boxed sets I have: Slayers Soundtrack to the Apocalypse, Iced Earth's Dark Genesis and Alice in Chains' Music Bank, 15 year Killing spree beats out all three of them.
I'll run through the set:
Disc 1: Best of volume 1- This is a greatest hits collection of all of their earlier works with Barnes on Vocals. All songs are 24-bit digitally remastered, which gives the songs from Eaten Back to life and Butchered at Birth a crisper sound. All the songs from Tomb of the Mutilated and Bleeding don't sound much different because the production on those albums didn't really need any remastering. It even has an amusing cover of Black Sabbath's Zero the Hero. My only minor complaint Is that they didn't have "Meat Hook Sodomy" which is one of my all time favorite CC songs.
Disc two: best of volume two- This is a greatest hits collection of all of their later works with Corpsegrinder on vocals. This is the Disk I listen the least because I didn't think that CC was quite as good without that deep, gutteral, cookie monster voice of Chris'. But Corpsegrinder's good too.
Disc three: previously unreleased:
89' demo- The demo they made when they first got started.

Tbe Created to kill sessions- As you probably already know this is what later became known as the Vile album. Chris departed ways with CC while recording this, so his vocal tracks and lyrics were shelved until now. I would definately say that this version is better with Chris on Vocals than it does with Corpsegrinder.
Gallery of suicide demo- As you can probably already tell this is the demo for Gallery of Suicide. It has different bass parts and guitar harmonies than the album.
The three cover songs- I haven't heard the original songs, but they sound brutal. My favorite is Behind Bars by Razor.
Disk 4- DVD
1st Cannibal Corpse show 1989- The first show they ever did opening for Death Angel. The picture and sound quality aren't exactly great but it's pretty cool to see Cannibal Corpse when they did their first show.
Butchered at Birth studio footage- Paul doing his drum tracks and some clowning around in the studio. I thought it was pretty funny.
Cannibal Corpse Eats Moscow Alive- A concert they did in Moscow, Russia. The audio quality isn't all that great. The bass guitar and the bass drum sound meshed together. But the visual Quality's pretty good, some good camera angles and in between songs you see them backstage and on the tour bus.
Live at the palace in Hollywood, California- This is the Highlight of the DVD. The audio and picture quality is superb. And this is just a really bad ass concert.
That's the set. Now go do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of "15 year Killing Spree."

there are lots of goodies in this box. but the real deal are the demos and other tracks. I can't think of any better compilation. well, a live version of "from liquid to skin" on the audio CD could upgrade the box. The videos and behind the scene takes are well picked.
I hold the view that the tracks on these albums are really the best CC has ever done. All the newer albums don't have the freshness and power... my opinion.

I wouldn't listen to this trash. My 25 year old grandson wanted it so I ordered it for him. I haven't heard from him since I gave it to him so I'm assuming he is happy with it.

I'm so tired of these morons writing reviews about bands that they haven't spent 1 second listening to and simply feel like bashing for no real reason. For an amusing experience, the next time you see a review by one of these jokers, click on their link and look at the other CDs they've reviewed. Two examples -- on the page for the Cannibal Corpse box set we have "Asephilocity" who has said that Tenacious D is a "masterpiece" and The Sickness by Disturbed is an "exceptional piece of work". His apparent colleague, "mazaro", ponders the mind-bending question about Korn "How could I not give this 5 stars?", and about Insane Clown Posse he boldly states "I love ICP". Our friend "mazaro" also states that Cannibal Corpse "isn't death metal", a statement obviously reinforced by his brutal death-metal background. If growling vocals, brutal low-end guitar riffs, unrelenting double-bass drums, and gore-filled lyrics do not make a band death metal, then these death-metal experts are welcome to tell us all what death-metal is. Why are these chronic oxygen-wasters reviewing Cannibal Corpse CDs? The band obviously must offend their gentle Christian sensibilities, which as we all know shouldn't ever be tampered with. Clearly their moms and dads have sternly forbidden that them from venturing into the death metal aisle at their local music retailer, a warning to which they have no doubt strictly adhered.
As for me, I have not even purchased the Corpse box set -- I am saving my money for the Feb. 04 release of their new CD, "The Wretched Spawn". The track listing indicate that this set is clearly an all-encompassing overview of their entire musical catalog up to and through Gore Obsessed. Cannibal Corpse remain one of the best death metal bands around. Fans and metal critics agree that the band are excellent at what they do, esp. the guitarists & drummer (who, contrary to what some chowder-head thinks, had never lost time).
Nu-metal fans, stay the f*** away from reviewing Cannibal Corpse. Save your limited vocabulary for the new Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit albums. Perhaps there you will find another "exceptional" piece of work.
