I loved the way the stalker kept putting in an appearance. Who was he? Where did he fit in? He was obviously a damaged individual; someone who lived on the edge of society, but I couldn’t imagine what someone like Kat could have done to have inspired such hatred.
I must say Melanie certainly puts her heroine through a roller coaster of emotions. She’s still mourning the loss of her husband Colin, killed in the London Bombings in 2005. Quite by accident Jared reappears in her life. From the beginning it’s obvious her feelings for him have never gone away, but how can she possibly begin a relationship with him without dishonouring her dead husband’s memory? Even when she’s confronted with the truth about Colin, part of her still refuses to let go. Jared is amazing. He really loves her. At the beginning he’s a bit gung-ho with his feelings, unaware of how vulnerable Kat is. He adores her, he wants her back, surely that’s enough? But it’s not and he soon realises he’ll need patience and determination if he wants to capture Kat’s heart. A thoroughly enjoyable four star read.
