I bought this yoga mat in early 2021 and it took some time to get used to. I was constantly slipping around on it in down dog and other poses you can rely on the mat to hold you in. I was about to give up and go on the hunt for a new one when I started getting the hang of it. My yoga mat basically broke in, and became a little tackier. I swear it wasn’t from dirt buildup or anything, it just needed some roughing up.
For newbies looking at this yoga mat like I was and see “slipping mat”, it’s not slipping on the floor it’s slipping under your hands in poses. I was one of those who thought “how does it have rubber siding on the bottom and slide everywhere?”. It doesn’t, it’s very sticky to the floor!
I also have hardwood floors, so the knees feel it in some poses (I’m 30). But overall it’s okay! I also never had a problem with a smell like some other reviews. It did have a “new” smell but it went away faster than the mat broke in.
Something else to mention is the print on it is still very intact. There isn’t any chipping or wear it still looks the way it did when I first got it! So I would say this is extremely well made.
I give this 4/5 stars because although it “broke in” it’s still slippery, and on my weaker days I still slide around on it. I love it and it’s beautiful and I still use it every day!
