This review is for the gameplay on the Fire TV.

I've enjoyed playing You Don't Know Jack (YDKJ) since it first came out many, many years ago (by Jellyvision/Berkeley) for the PC. It was always a fun, fun, FUN game to play with friends and family because of the hilarious host ("Cookie"), questions, answers, and fake "commercials". It is a very well-made game, and with that in mind, I thought that it would be excellent to play on the Amazon Fire TV. What better way to play than on the big-screen television?

This is a free app with 1 free Episode. There are in-app purchases available for additional Episodes at $1.99 each, but more on that later.

GAME CONTROLLERS
The game can be controlled with the Fire TV controller (Bluetooth), the Fire TV game controller (Bluetooth), and the JackPad app (WiFi required) that's available for smartphones and tablets (ie. Android, iOS, Windows Phone).

WHAT IS YDKJ?
YDJK is a single/multi-player trivia game with various topics. The questions never directly tell you what the answer may be, requiring thought before you buzz in. Instead, they are formed in such a way that only hints are given (play on words, pop culture, spelling, and what not) -- some are hilarious or simple, and some require quite some thought.

The game presents the questions in a variety of formats, including:
- Multiple choice
- Dis or Dat
- Jack Attack

All questions are timed -- the faster you answer, the more cash you can get. At the same time, provide the wrong answer, and money gets taken away. Giving the wrong answer can result in a hilarious comment by the host, as does not giving one.

So much potential that goes so wrong with this.
Bought it to use on the new Amazon Fire Stick.
The app comes with a sample pack and then you buy in-app to play more trivia.
Bought it before the new JackBox was available on Amazon Fire Stick...wish the Jackbox Website would have mentioned the party pack was "coming soon" would NOT have wasted my money on this.

The good:

It's YDKJ on a very portable device

The bad:

In-App purchases get downloaded and seem to lock-up the device after one use. You have to reset the app and re-download to play again and then the app starts over with the 1st questions. Randomness be darned.

Connecting to the app with the required controller app is a big MISS. It does not connect with any regularity. When you want to play a quick trivia game you shouldn't have to prep by launching and relaunching (and relaunching...etc) the companion app in an attempt to play the non-repeating trivia.

Can not recommend this version.

This is a fun game, but I'm not too keen on how the episodes are sold. It seems like we'll run through them pretty quickly rendering the game purchase useless afterwards as we'll remember most of the answers. There would be much more content available & would be fairly easy to randomize the questions I would think... Fun game none the less!

Currently the best game for the Amazon Fire TV using only the remote (requires no game controller).

It's a lot of fun. The quality is surprising. It adapts to the time ("what are you doing up at the witching hour?"), and keeps a face pace.

This game is a great party game that is a lot of fun with 2 or a group of people. I downloaded it for my Amazon Fire Stick and played the first couple episodes with my family and had a blast so I bought the remaining episodes for around $10. Whether it is the host telling some purposefully dumb joke or just the fun in competing with loved ones, each episode is full of laughs. Definitely worth the price I paid for the extended experience. The other players will need either another controller for the Amazon Fire TV or they can use their smartphones connected to the same network and get the Jackpad app on Android and iPhone. That is hit or miss for me in the past. Sometimes it works and sometimes the party buzz is killed by spending 10 minutes trying to get it working.

The game is set up almost like a game show. The beginning is laced with stage hands talking to you and then the host comes out and introduces himself and the sponsor of the episode/wrong answer of the game which is always some hilariously awful fake product. The end then has credits with some very funny fake commercials playing in the background that will have you listening to the TV after each game. In each game, you are given one screw each which you can use on another player to force them to make a quick decision on a question and possibly lose or gain some money while you either get rewarded for their wrong answer or punished for their right answer. I like the questions because it is a very nice mix of straight trivia or just thoughtful word play questions that you can work out to find the correct answer.

One issue though is that once all episodes are finished (which there are less than 50), that is it.
