Stress Less, Live More

In a world where you have more information, more responsibilities, more electronic devices, and more ways to update your status, it’s no wonder that you also have more stress.

Why? Because in response to all of the increased demands on you, you search for more, too. You want more time, more money, more energy, more sleep, more IT support, more friends to follow, more reality shows to take your minds off the heavy stuff in your lives.

So what’s the result? You may end up on the wrong end of stress’s right hook. And it beats you up. Badly.

The truth is, many people actually misunderstand stress. Many believe that the secret to eliminating stress is, well, eliminating stress. While bubble baths and island living may be the answer for some, stress-elimination isn’t really the goal. You actually need stress—and many stresses are actually good for your health. The secret, then, is figuring out what’s good, what’s bad, and then using that information to minimize the destructive effects of certain stresses, so you can lead a healthy and happy life.

In this book, you’ll find seventy-five of our best “Stress Less” secrets culled from the research we did for several of our bestselling books in the YOU: The Owner’s Manual series. Within these pages, you’ll find some big-picture lessons that will help you redefine what stress is, and you’ll come across dozens of nuggets that will help you in a pinch—to sleep better, feel more energized, and be ready to embrace all of the wonderful things that life has to offer.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to do some meditation . . . “ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.”

Here’s to a healthy and happy YOU,
Michael F. Roizen, MD, and Mehmet C. Oz, MD

This is a short paperback type book - to the point! The Big Picture about why stress makes you fat and the biology behind it all - in layman's terms so that you can remember it. Management techniques for stress: there are so many different types of stress and reasons for it from relationships, jobs, pain, etc. Basically the book gives the reader "75 valuable tips to reverse the effects of stress". Short, well written and to the point. I had to have my own copy because it is a handy reference guide AND reminder of how best to deal with some of the stressors that head my way sometimes. Good book.

You can read this book in one sitting. It's the type of book you can read while at the doctor's office or waiting for your car to be fixed. It reads more like a long how-to magazine article rather than like a book. The authors define stress, explain what stress does to the body, and offer traditional advice on how to cope with it. If you've read any books on stress prior to this one, you will not get any new information; It is strictly for those who have never read anything at all on stress.

I really liked the You: On a Diet book and I thought this would be similar. This is more a list of things you can do, which is helpful, but no one likes reading a list. :-( I think it would have been better as a book. Still, there is some very helpful information listed, especially if you have a very stressful life or stressful things in your life.

Drs. Roizen & Oz have done so much for the health of people. I first saw them on PBS years ago, and have been a fan ever since. Their books are easy to read and understand and include humor to keep up the interest. In addition to buying their books (as well as books on CD) for myself, I've also bought them as gifts for family members. Sometimes just knowing what's going on with your body and your mind is a comfort. It's good to have this resource available.

This book covers many familar topics and helps. The refreshers and extra help I enjoyed, making myself schedule the time for me, so I can be better for others and myself. I am an RN and care giver is my natural response to all............but burn out comes and overlooking that is not a good thing for anyone. Some can be synical but if you can just step out with one small change you just might be pleasantly suprised. Thanks docs............

I always enjoy books written by Dr. Oz/Roizen. Most approaches in the book will help most people and then there are those approaches that although would benefit, just are not feasible either due to time constraints or personal space or money.

The "book" is little more than a brochure. it addresses causes of stress and solutions to reduce stress in basically a bullet line method. I've read blogs with more useful information. Just a disappointment considering the authors.

Having read several YOU series book, I was particularly interested in YOU Stress Less - Since in almost every book 'stress' is identified as a significant cause of premature aging.

If you're like me, there is little new information contained in this book that couldn't be obtained by reading the other YOU books. HOWEVER, if you have no interest in reading all of the books - and Stress is of particular interest to you - this is a handy, concise, little tome that brings together ALL of the 'Stress' tidbits sprinkled throughout the other books.

So, if you're a one-stop shopper - This is your book!
