The Yacker Tracker appears to be a traffic signal, but actually signals too much noise. Just select the appropriate level of noise for any given situation and let the Yacker Tracker be a visual and audio reminder when the noise level gets too high! Aim: To provide a visual signal of too much noise for children and students of all age levels. 17"H x 5 1/2"W x 5"D. Sold as Single Unit. You can set the level with which you are comfortable. 1.) many reviews are correct in stating that it is too sensitive at one setting and not sensitive enough at another. 50 decibels is the lowest setting. This is about the noise level of a library. 60 decibels is the next setting and 70 the next. I have to keep it set at 70 decibels bc 60 is far too sensitive but at 70 decibels it doesn't seem to be sensitive enough so it still ends up getting pretty noisy in my classroom.
2.) the alarm is great (I have not used the voice setting) but if it gets loud enough in the room the volume of the alarm is not loud enough. I have only had that problem once so far though in the month that I have owned it.
All in all I am really happy I have this product. It's pretty pricey and cheaply made but works decently. It's honestly helped me a lot so far. Just make sure you have clear rules about it to your students bc they WILL try to set it off on purpose to be silly and play around.
I agree with other posts that it's cheaply made and overpriced. Paid out of pocket for this tool and expected much more. As a teacher I have neither the time or money to waste on, what should easily be, a high quality reliable product. I really hope that I don't have to return the Yacker Tracker.
Overall: Helpful for keeping kids quiet for quiet activities, but not so useful for instructional time as the teacher may end up setting off the alarm.
