Yahoo, why on earth did you nerf this App? I downloaded this in 2012 and had a few complaints but didn't mind being able to use it on the go. True, it would sometimes not delete an email that I asked it to delete, and there was the limited viewing (if you scrolled down it would take a minute to load older emails), and there was the inability to search full text if the email I wanted to find was more than a week old. But I could deal with it.

But then I downloaded the March 2014 update and the App is now totally worthless. The interface has changed completely so that Yahoo is a shell that includes a number of apps - news app, flickr app, etc. The email app asks me to set up my yahoo account - something so strange for an account that I have had for so long that I simply removed the app from my kindle, thinking that it was some form of spyware. I see that it isn't, but yahoo is trying to be google and what we instead get is a really bloated, slow-running, package of nonsense that I don't have reason to use anymore.

I've opened an account through a different ISP and will be allowing my yahoo mail, which I have had for more than a decade, to simply die.

Several issues down a few more to go... Yahoo finally responded - after much delay - to customers and fixed the initial issue that limited users to viewing only one screen, and only 10 messages, at a time. The app now scrolls as it should. No more requirement to view email messages in landscape mode. There was then a persistent problem wrt loading on a Kindle Fire HD (we'd get a perpetual loop of the app interface asking for a login name & password, which never connected us to the Yahoo Mail service). Then the navigation capabilities on a Kindle Fire HD 7" failed and were not consistently visible (forcing users to open emails to view navigation tools or ending up in a loop of no access to mail folders if one got stuck in a folder with no emails to open). And, just to keep things interesting, in the phone rendition of the app notifications were/can be a disaster and do not always work.

The most recently updated interface design of the Yahoo Mail app was an improvement over the old interface aesthetically (it got rid of that gosh awful prior arrangement in which the ads took up over 1/3 of the app's 'real-estate' on a relatively small smart phone or 7" tablet display). The new design is elegant and clean. The folders run down the left vertical 1/3 of the display (tablet and smart phone - mine a Samsung Galaxy S III) with a viewing panel of messages showing in the right 2/3 of the screen. Very nice! Easy to scan. The button controls are now intuitive and boast symbols that are laid out such that they are easy to use and maneuver through.

[UPDATE - April 2013] Yahoo seems to have released an update (2.

This new version is the worst thing they have done. I can't wait to change it when I move. I am only suffering with it for a short time. If it isn't broke - don't try to fix it. You didn't succeed.

Yucky ! I greatly dislike the way emails are seen. You can not just go down the list and choose multiple ones to delete, have to do each and every email. Change it back please.

I own a fire hdx tablet. I had to make setting changes for this version to show the mail content. Images take longer to load when compared to the previous version.

Wish there was a "go back to previous version button" available.

I downloaded another email app which actually works for yahoo mail, the images load in full screen. Hopefully yahoo will come through with fixes.

Great app. in order to see all the messages in your inbox all you need to do is to browse the kindle in landscape position.

I really like Yahoo Mail and have used it for years, so I was quite bothered when I got my Kindle Fire, and it wasn't on the device. Then I discovered this app, and I was happy again--except for one thing: no Yahoo calendar! I learned a couple of ways to work around this issue on the Amazon help pages on this website, but they all seemed to be a bit too complex for a non-geek like me! I don't see why Yahoo doesn't make a combo-app, putting the mail and calender together. That would be a perfect app. Until they do (or create a new Yahoo calendar app), I can't award five stars.

Be very careful with Yahoo Mail. They sell your address and data to their "Partners" and eventually, their "Partners" sell it to others and within a few weeks or months, you belong to the Spammers and what's worse, the Hackers. Yahoo's customer service is non-existent, they run from, do not answer, disguise and will not cooperate with any attempt to get the Spamming and Hacking stopped. They are the source of the hacking and the source of the spamming.
If you use Yahoo! beware, you are risking having your email not only spammed by the porno industry, but actually having your bank accounts drained. I believe they are one of the WORST email providers you can choose. Oh and did I mention the unsolicited Ads?

My review of Yahoo! is simple, very dangerous, detrimental to you and your family, completely non existent for customer service and something that can and does get you spammed and/or hacked with no recourse afterwards. They should have a class action suit slapped on their sorry, greedy backsides. It's that simple.
