With Yakima's FullTilt Four-Bike Rack, you can bring all four of your personal whips--oops, bikes for the whole family--anytime you hit the road in search of pristine pavement or dreamy dirt. With all your bikes on the back, you'll be able to fill the rest of the car with whiskey and beer--we mean children and significant others, obviously--and head out for an easy long weekend of debauched pedaling. Er, quality family time.No matter your reasons for loading up, the FullTilt makes it super easy, with an AutoPin automatic positioning system, a tool-free SpeedKnob to lock it in place, and an integrated same key locking system that lets you lock everything to everything else (Yeah, Jimmy knows where he'll end up if he doesn't stop poking his sister). The UpperHand tilting and storage lever easily lets the rack swing up and down when unloaded, and the padded arms, anti-sway cradles, and replaceable ZipStrips make sure your bikes won't go anywhere when you hit a speed bump or rally down a rugged dirt road. Yakima designed the FullTilt to fit with both 1. 25in and 2in hitches, and even integrated a bottle opener so the kids can enjoy a fancy root beer after they pedal the 300-foot loop around the campground. You'll probably be on to something stronger by then.

The lock supports slide and lock in place to accommodate different bike types and have not had one come loose yet. The straps that go into the locks also fit well and are pretty easy to get in and out (unless you have a short persons bike). The rack is easy to put on and take off the hitch receiver and easy to lock. You can't go wrong with this bike rack!
UPDATE 3/11/2015: I contacted Yakima's support about the problems and they identified the problem as a stripped threading in the hitch mechanism. They quickly shipped me out a replacement unit which arrived 2 days later. The replacement unit works good and is even a little easier to use than the original, maybe they've made some subtle improvements? I'm concerned the design will lead to stripped threading after a number of uses again though.. but I hope not. Either way, my hat is off to Yakima's Oregon based support department which really handled this matter extremely well with the smallest amount of effort from me to get a new working unit in my hands quickly.
The concept of the hitch/locking mechanism is a good idea; however, in practical use it's really challenging to use. The whole system is very heavy and because of the way the tightening mechanism floats before it's inserted into the hitch it's quite difficult to insert it. I have to hold the mechanism down with my thumb while balancing this 50lb beast of a rack in my other arm and pushing it into the hitch simultaneously while simultaneously trying to not pinch my thumb.
For the first season, the tightening mechanism (that keeps it sturdy inside the hitch) worked pretty well, although it took some force to get it tight enough so it didn't wobble around. 2nd season (6 months after purchase) the mechanism is so difficult to turn it requires a pipe wrench to make it turn and tighten. (turns out it was stripped, see update below)
Far and away it's the most difficult bike rack I've used to date. My last rack from Thule had a hole in the receiver where you would put a tightening bolt through the holes in the receiver and tighten it down with a small wrench. Took 2 minutes to install vs 10+ minutes for this one. That was a far superior design to this one.
