Let me rephrase that headline statement. Not only is this the best Yakuza Kiwami remake, this one is tons better than the last entry in the series (chronologically speaking), Yakuza 6: the song of life. While Yakuza 6 was essential and introduced many things present in Kiwami 2, its this game that takes that recipe and truly runs with it, resulting in a memorable and fun experience.

Well, Kamurocho is cool and all and I dug Onomichi and all it's fisherman citizen, but Sega has really put the most fun to be had so far in Sotenbori, which is the on the other side of Japan than Kamurocho. The activities are literally bursting out of the seams at you, from new things to do such as golfing and Toylets, to returning classics from the fan fave Yakuza 0 in the form of Cabaret Club Showdowns among many other familiar going on's. And, to add the proverbial cherry on top of this sweet gaming dream, is the fact that Sega decided to yet again involve Goro Majima and allow players to once again play as him. I mean this is by far the most complete and filled Yakuza experience to come to PS4 to date, so I hope Sega changes their minds and choose to involve as much time and effort to make the already confirmed Yakuza 3 into more than just a mere up-haul in graphics. Please, Sega make this the definitive formula to base the rest of the awesome series on!!! Tons of content!!

I’ll make this short. Yakuza 2 is unanimously considered the best game(story wise) in the series, and it still holds up to this day. With Yakuza Kiwami 2 you get the most engrossing story in the series coupled with the dragon engine introduced in Yakuza 6 with all it’s visual sheen and seamless transitions.

Yakuza 6 was new and improved in every way except combat. In 6 it was extremely stripped down from what fans got to experience with multiple fighting styles in Yakuza 0, and because of this the overall experience suffered a little. Kiwami 2 manages to improve the combat by adding a decent amount of new heat moves and re-introducing melee weapons while also making extreme heat easier to control.

Ultimately Yakuza Kiwami 2 managed to be more fun than Yakuza 6, taking a classic story and giving it a new life with subtle improvements to the gameplay introduced in Kiryu’s final adventure.

Even though I have only played just a few minutes of the game, I can tell that as good as the PS2 version was, this one is even better. This is how a remaster should be made. I don't know why Square Enix doesn't take the same approach with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Here Square Enix should learn something! Anyhow, coming back to this game, I can't recommend it enough at a great price without breaking the bank or my pockets!

A amazing story, crazy silly fun minigames, and some of the most serious and silliest sidequest. This game also the same game engine as yakuza 6, so you'll be right at home with this if you have played that. It's just a game you have to experience to understand what this series is about.

Also the steelbook is absolutely gorgeous.

Have to admit that I'm a long time fan of the Yakuza series and an overall fan of Japanese developed games so there is some bias in my review of this game. But with that being said there is no denying that any Yakuza game you buy your guaranteed a quality product with a great story to uncover. Any fans of western localizations of Japanese games should pick this up, we need every game made in Japan to come west eventually and just like any other business they only speak in one word, money. It's not like I'm asking you to by an awful game either, Yakuza 2 has one of the best stories in all of the Yakuza games so far, you will not be disappointed.

I love this franchise and this is another great addition to it. One of the more important games to the story and to the franchise as a whole, I’m very glad this got the kiwami treatment and in a steel book to boot! It almost feels like a crime that this is so cheap at only $20, funny that that’s how much the original ps2 release would’ve gone for. The yakuza series a gem no matter what form or release you choose from and having it be so ridiculously affordable is the cherry on top. I strongly recommend this series to anyone looking for a fun and engaging time. This series is one in a million.

One of the best games I’ve played. The game picks up right after Yakuza Kiwani, but instead of the classic game engine from the first one, they used the newer one from Yakuza 6. The game feels smooth and sound amazing, although there are times where you kinda drown out the story as some cutscenes are boring.

If you never played the first one, don’t worry. The opening of the game lets you see what happened as the main character Kiryu remembers at the graveyard (spoilers). The game does hold your hand a bit, in the opening but soon you’re off to the races. Between the sub stories, mini games, and other things you can easily spend over 10 hours playing the game. It should be noted that there are a few perv things in the game, but it’s a running gag in the series and it’s completely optional to do.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 es el remake del segundo juego de la saga que originalmente apareció en el PS2 y continúa la historia de Kiryu Kazuma, un prominente ex yakuza que intenta vivir una vida normal hasta que su pasado lo encuentra y se ve obligado a salvar a su antiguo clan.
Básicamente se trata de un RPG de acción, donde peleas por las calles, comes, bebes y ayudas a la gente para adquirir puntos de experiencia con los que accedes a nuevas habilidades.
A diferencia del primer Kiwami, donde Kiryu contaba con 4 estilos de pelea, aquí fueron eliminados a cambio de numerosas Heat Actions (movimientos poderosos con los que puedes azotar al enemigo contra la pared, aplicarle un buen gancho o meterle la cabeza a un microondas), aunque al principio puede ser un poco decepcionante, se pueden hacer varios combos e incluso atacar junto con tu compañero o con la ayuda de aliados, y ya no se extrañan tanto.
Además de que la dificultad es un poco más reducida y, afortunadamente, esos jefes con barras de vida infinitas desaparecieron. Ya que Kiwami 2 corre en el Dragon engine, los gráficos son bastante superiores a los de la entrega anterior, por lo que tanto los personajes como las ciudades lucen más vibrantes y detallados. Este motor también permite transiciones más dinámicas, ya no hay tiempos de carga al entrar a un restaurante u otra locación del mapa. De hecho puedes comenzar una pelea en la calle, arrojar a un enemigo a un minisuper o restaurante y continuar la pelea en dicho lugar, viendo como el mobiliario es destrozado.
Como es tradición, además de la historia principal puedes jugar las sub historias (completamente opcionales) plagadas de situaciones y personajes exóticos e hilarantes. Además, si te cansas de golpear malandros, puedes jugar golf, dardos, shogi, cantar karaoke, administrar un cabaret o echarte una partida de vitua fighter en el Club Sega.

This game has a very emotional story as well as really funny side quests. I personally prefer the battle system of the first Kiwami title, but that can change from person to person. I highly recommend this game for any fan of the series, or for someone that is looking for a good beat-them-up with a lot of humour.

Qué les puedo decir acerca de Yakuza? Si estás leyendo esto, es muy probable que ya seas fanatico de esta SAGA de juegazos, no tiene ningun punto negativo para los fanaticos, es simplemente lo que se puede esperar.

Por otro lado, si eres nuevo, te recomiendo que primero jueges el Yakuza 0 o el Yakuza Kiwami 1, ya que este juego es una continuación directa de ambos titulos, aunque originalmente, Yakuza 0 no existía, fue lanzado como una precuela, es super importante jugarlo para que te logres enganchar con esta saga de juegazos y con la historia de Kiryu, uno de mis personajes favoritos de la industria de los videojuegos.

Buen juego gráficamente hablando, aunque el estilo de combate dejó mucho que desear si lo comparo con el Ps2 que tengo desde el 2007 muy superior (quitaron varios movimientos, substories, OST en algunos momentos claves, una tercera ciudad y más) pero para tener una versión en PS4 es buena opción para los nuevos fans. El steelbook eso si es una joya, recomendable. Además el producto llegó en excelentes condiciones y a mejor precio en aquel entonces.
