I was able to replace my existing deadbolt in less than 15 minutes with no tools beyond a screwdriver. It fits standard deadbolt openings without adjustment. The instructions were well written.
In addition to what I consider the critical features, the designers put a lot of thought into the little touches. There are some nice options that can be configured, including different volumes of audio feedback and an optional LED status indicator on the inside. The device is simple to install, simple to set up, and simple to use, while providing far better security than even a high-end key lock.
Downsides: The auto lock feature is not exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping for more of a customizable feature that would allow up to maybe 5 minutes and then lock the door, not 30 or 60 seconds (I can't remember what its set to, but I had to turn it off because it just wasn't going to work for us)
You cannot set up anything remotely, everything must be setup from the unit itself. Not a major flaw, but once the weather gets all yucky, its crappy to have to stand with the door open or outside to do whatever you need to get done (i.e. Setup PINs, troubleshoot if it disconnects from your hub, etc)
Positives: Unique aesthetic design. We have had an uptick in vandalism and package thefts in our neighborhood, and this little deadbolt apparently has left people thinking they are getting recorded? We think its funny. Many outsiders are not even sure what it is which we are more than ok with.
Ease of use. My 8 year old was shown how to use this once and is totally fine using this. We had a neighbor help us out when we were out of town with packages, he was able to handle it just fine. It's a little funny at first because I have always used # vs *, but obviously that is not a huge deal.
The only hiccup we have had with the unit was when there was an update with our hub and it kicked the deadbolt off of our wireless access. The unit itself never stopped working. A call to Wink fixed the problem in just a few minutes. We love no longer needing a key for the front door, and we put a 9V battery in a prescription bottle outside just in case the batteries ever die on us. Highly recommended.
This thing is sucking batteries power quick. Since I installed it(about two weeks ago), batteries are down to 96%!
