The EF2400iS is built around an innovative inverter system, which is able to deliver higher-quality, cleaner electricity than competing generators. It produces energy in the form of pure sine waves, which are cleaner and more reliable than most commercial power sources.

Noise Reduction for Quiet Operation
The EF2400iS uses sound reduction technologies to ensure the quietest operation possible. Featuring a special sound-blocking design, the generator has noise-absorbing glass wool construction, which helps dampen noise even during heavy operation. And along with the EF2400iS' super-quiet muffler with USFS-approved Spark Arrestor, as well as vibration-isolating feet, this generator keep noise at a minimum (53 to 58 dBA).

The best thing about this generator is how easy it is to use, and it's only 70 lbs. Fill up with gas and oil, switch the power on, gas on, choke, and pull. This generator is so quiet and has plenty of power to get you through a short term power outage.
Dollar for watts, this is the best inverter generator out there. If I ever need a 30 amp hookup (ie. for a transfer switch connected to a house panel), I can buy another one of these generators and set up a parallel hookup. Also, since it's lightweight and quiet, I can use it for other purposes like camping. I also bought the hour meter and cover.
This is a quality piece of equipment, made in Japan. Not the Harbor Freight special.
When I bought the Yamaha we had a 33 foot travel trailer with a Dometic 13,500 BTU rooftop AC unit. At first the Yamaha would not run it but after some research I found that by installing a $25 hard start capacitor on the AC unit everything worked perfectly. I am writing this from within my RV in 90 degree heat and the Yamaha is quietly purring behind me while the temperature inside is 78. The only items I cannot use with the AC on are the mocrowave or a hair dryer, otherwise everything will work while the AC is running including the TV, hot water heater, water pump, battery charger for my electric scooter, this computer and all the lights. You can't do better than that for the money.
one night a fellow camper came to our door and asked if we knew the people in the rv next door because their "loud" generator was keeping him up. I said no, but my Yamaha is running and I will turn it off if you want me to. He responded by saying the Yamaha was fine, it was the Honda that was too noisy. Go figure, the Yamaha is 400 watts more powerful than the Honda.
By the way, if you decide to purchase a Yamaha 2400is, be sure it is an ISHC. THE HC is the newest model and the one most likely to run a 13,500 AC unit.
OK FAST FORWARD TO OCTOBER 2013. We have a different trailer now about the same size as the old one but we still have the yamaha generator and after three years of very hard use it runs like a top. Sometimes on hot summer days when parked where there is no power the Yamaha runs all day and all night and never misses a beat. Once in three years it coughed a little and died, I had some bad gasoline but got it started and babied it with the choke for a while and it roared back to life. It still has the original spark plug because a new one wasn't needed. It starts on the first or second pull without fail and it's easy on gas. Three years after I wrote the original review and I can tell you this....if I could give it 10 stars I would. This engine is first class all the way.
Now for the load test. After one thousand, eight hundred, and twenty five hours, I took all the covers off. Blew everything out with compressed air. Removed carb. Cleaned carb, but really found nothing wrong. Blew out cooling fins on the motor. Checked valve adjustment (needed no adjustment) put back together, changed oil. Warmed up and increased load to 18 amps. This generator is rated at 16.7 but has no problem holding 18. No oil burning or leaks. ready for 1825 hours more.
This generator replaced the Honda. Have never regretted the decision. If you are in the market, don't hesitate. Just buy it, you will be glad you did.
