AVENTAGE is a dramatic, inspired leap forward in audio/video component design. AVENTAGE brings studio grade sound and sophisticated video enhancements to your home with unparalleled attention to detail in design, engineering, and fabrication. We rethought every electrical path, every part, every piece, and every material to maximize performance. Details that at first glance would not seem to affect the quality of sight, sound, and control, when brought together in an AVENTAGE component, produce a work of visual and acoustic art.

In addition to an innovative new construction design, the RX-A1000 A/V Receiver offers 3D and Audio Return Channel over 8 in/2 out HDMI, CINEMA DSP 3D, new GUI, new YPAO with Multi-Point Control, and an RS232 port with and Control4® certification for integration with custom installations. A Unique Approach to Enhanced Performance

Enhanced Stability: Double Bottom Construction and a Specially Designed 5th Foot (A.R.T. Wedge)
The RX-A1000 fifth foot
A specially designed fifth foot adds even more stability to reduce vibration

Strong stability in an amplifier design reduces noise and jitter in your digital signal for clearer audio and video. High-grade, heavier terminals reduce vibration at the speaker connections. An additional bottom cover contributes extra support at higher volume levels for the power transformer and heat sinks. And the specially-designed fifth foot at the center of the amplifier--an Anti-Resonance Technology (A.R.T.) Wedge--improves overall structural rigidity and reduces vibration, resulting in a more stable signal and sound improvement.

Enhanced Power: Optimized Power Amplifier Layout with Low Jitter Circuitry

The symmetrical power amplifier layout evenly distributes weight across the amplifier to control vibration, improving signal-to-noise ratio for an improved sound experience. The high-quality Burr-Brown DACs feature a direct path to ground, not sharing the ground like in other amplifier designs, for a more efficient and clean signal. Built-in Low Jitter circuitry reduces jitter from digital sources, including HDMI, using a more precise timing control--so you can be sure of a stable audio/video signal, resulting in perfectly reproduced images and sound.

A hybrid power supply makes the AVENTAGE series even more efficient. Independent power supplies for the digital and analog circuit results in less power consumption in standby mode, and a more efficient power transformer--so despite the power of the RX-A1000, it could cost you less to run.

Exclusive Yamaha Features for Surround Realism

Yamaha CINEMA DSP is an advanced exclusive technology for creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. 17 CINEMA DSP 3D settings let you customize the effect for your room. Adaptive DSP Level evaluates the difference between the volume level and a reference level, adjusting the DSP level to ensure optimum effectiveness, so you'll experience cinema-quality audio even at lower volumes.

CINEMA DSP's decoding technology also takes advantage of Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer, so you can enjoy your digital music library on your home theater system without sacrificing audio quality.

New SCENE PLUS features 12 SCENE choices (4 on front panel for quick setting changes and others via the full-color GUI), including 4 SCENE buttons for Zone 2/Zone 3. Pressing a single SCENE button automatically launches multiple operations to make your devices work together--no more fumbling with the remote control. They are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening, but can be customized to whatever you need.

Yamaha™'s YPAO system uses a small microphone (included) and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First, it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room--and you don't have to do anything.

Multizone Capability for Extending Your Home Theater Experience

With support for audio and video in up to two zones, the RX-A1000 can become your home entertainment hub no matter what room it's in. An included Party Mode enhances your next get-together. Your zone settings can be saved, backed up, and restored later for convenience.

I haven't had a receiver since my old Denon got stolen... but I'm using the RX-A1000 with 2x Klipsch WF-35 floor standers, 2 x Klipsch WB14 Bookshelves, the Klipsch WC24 center, and 2x Klipsch WS24 surrounds for a 7.1 experience and let me say the Aventage is AWESOME! The sound is so CLEAN. The features are ROBUST. Can you say WEB CONTROL via the web browser on the laptop and streaming FLAC? Fully lossless audio playback is so nice and the sound is amazing. Yamaha didn't overhype this, they outdid themselves and it is trully high fidelity in my opinion. Sounds orgasmic. Would highly reccomend it! Never had the need to turn it into the positive dbs, usually keep it about -17db and -6db when I'm really jammin. Super loud on these Klipsch W series.

As I write this review, I am listening to my favorite music DVD (Eagles, hell freezes over), and I have the volume cranked to about 70% to match the listening volume of the Yamaha HTR 5790 (50% volume) that this RX-A1000 replaced. The 5790 had 110 watt vs 105 watt per channel for the RX-A1000. It was time to replace my 5790 because I recently purchased a Samsung 8000 series LED TV and wanted to pass 1080p signals from my BluRay player to the TV via the Yamaha receiver. The 5790 did not have any HDMI ports and you can't pass 1080p signals through component cables. The old Yamaha could not process Dolby True HD either. One of the nice features on this new receiver is the ability to pass video and audio to the TV via the HDMI cables even when the receiver is off. How cool is that? We don't always need 735 watts, especially when we are only watching a news channel. Another cool feature is the NET Radio. I connected the RX-1000's LAN jack to my router (via a gigabit switch)and 24 hours later (I could not get it to work imediately), I am listening to 15,000 radio stations. It took 24 hours for the receiver to figure out it was connected to a computer network? I don't understand why it didn't work right away. I checked all my settings over and over and then turned it off when my patience started wearing a little thin. The next day when I turned it on, the NET radio was working. This unit is about a $200 step up from my old receiver, but in my opinion does not match the sound of my older Yahama unit. Gosh, did 5 watts make the difference? Yamaha spent 2 years designing and building the Aventage series from the chassis up. This was not a redesign, (building and improving on an existing chassis), it is a complete new design including the number of feet (5) on the bottom.Read more ›

I purchased this receiver from the Amazone Marketplace and just finished the connections to my Klipsch Reference Series speakers with Center, Left + Right, 2 Presence Speakers, surround speakers (L+R+Back) and a 15" Subwoofer.
I upgrated from an older Yamaha 5.1 receiver and added the front L+R speakers. The sound is just amazing. I also purchased the iPod dock which works absolutely great with the iPod Touch. However, it does not work with the iPhone 4. I am getting the Panasonic Viera TV in a couple of weeks and with the Panasonic 3D DVD player, I don't think I will be going to the movies as often. this receiver is a great product and it is built to last.
The on-screen menu is easy to understand and very quick when changing sound programs etc.

I recently purchased this unit from Amazon to replace my old RV-1105. I tested Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, and this definitely came out on the top. My RV-1105 was a great unit and I have had it for over 10 years and is still working great. I wanted to buy this because of the HMDI interface and the 7.1 Channel (although there are not a whole lot of 7.1 channel DVD's). I liked the unit because of the 2 HDMI out, which I use to connect my projector in the basement, and the TV in the living room. This unit also allows you to change the HDMI input even in standby mode, which is awesome. The hook up was a breeze, especially with YPAO. I haven't tweaked the settings yet, and everything is working like a charm. The audio and video are crisp. I haven't tested the DNLA or NET radio. There are lot more DSP programs that what I had in RV1105, and simulated 7.1 is really good. I have downloaded the iPhone app, and it works like a charm. There are a couple of things I dont like about the iPhone App. 1. The Demo programs - I am not able to remove these (I dont know if someone has found a way to delete it) 2. Even though the unit allows Input switching in standby mode, the App will not work with the unit being in standby mode. So if you use the App for switching you will have to turn it on.

Now the things I dont like - The audio levels are much lower than my RV1105. Eventhough this is rated @105W/channel, the audio @-25db is no where near the audio levels of my old RV1105. My old RV1105 sounds so much louder than the RXA1000. I have to put it @-20dB to have a decent sound effect in my Home theater. I think the RXA1000 is trimming down the volume, and I have even complained to Yamaha with no response.

UPDATE 09/07/11: It turned out the settings in my PS3 were not sending it full resolution audio streams. I had to change the Music settings to allow higher bit-rate and then change Video playback HDMI audio to send Bitstream to it. Also changed optical to bitstream just in case. Now the PS3 is sending DTS Master Stream to it and it definitely made a difference. Need to audition it more begore i say anything else but just want to indicate it is not a bad amp as i thought before. I already agreed its a good Pre-processor.
I have a 7 year old Harman Kardon AVR335 entry level receiver that does not have HDMI inputs/outputs and can't decode newer surround formats and is only 55W/channel so i was looking for a replacement that could address all these issues. I love the HK - its awsome and sound absolutelyy fantastic so thouhgt i should get a higher grade receiver if buying a different brand to get the quality. This Aventage A1000 seems a nice fit for my needs/budget.

The first uh-oh came when i unplugged the HK and removed it from the cabinet and lifted the A1000 to put in its place - the A1000 was decisively lighter than the old HK. It does look nice though. Connected all my components/speakers and ran the YPAO to let it adjust speakers settings. At first i was impressed with its sound but then i noticed it is quite low at same volume level as my HK. Searched AV forums and changed the Volume Trim to +6. Second issue was that it totally killed my twin 12" awesome subs - these used to shake the house and now they barely registed any base. I manually changed the level of subs from -6.5 to -2 but still its no the same. Also it only shows SUB1 on the front panel display while i have connected both SUB1 and SUB2 pre-outs.
