This is a unique book in that it tells the story of American GI's' time in New Zealand during the early stages of World War II and the solid relationships forged with welcoming New Zealand locals, the marriages created and also the kiwi soldier's resentment over american men's romancing local woman when they returned from the north african campaign.
Apparently no one had, until Bioletti's book, wrote of this historical time and how American soldiers, navy seaman and particularly marines flooded Auckland and Wellington in preparation for the epic battle of Tarawa, and other engagements. The personal accounts of New Zealanders and the then young military men are priceless. I recommend this book for those who appreciate WWII history and cultural relations.
