I decided to start the next time we were all having dinner together and was surprised at how they were all responsive as they are typically pretty reserved and rarely talk about their feelings/emotions. You can imagine how thrilled I was and I couldn't wait to see if we'd get the same participation the following night and sure enough, we all went around the table and talked about what we felt was the best part of our day. We have managed to keep it up and it is now part of our daily dinner routine as this time works best for us as we're all together then and every one gets to share and be part of it.
Not that we are negative people but this simple little routine has brought us closer together and itąs been so wonderful to see how the kids are actually excited to share. It's so great to focus on the positive aspects of our lives, even if it is one small thought that we share amongst each other.
I have to tell you the most remarkable part though ~ the kids are now often the ones initiating the question and discussion and it now leads to
many other discussions and topics and what used to be a much quieter time of day has become one of the most fun! Both my husband and I are
completely amazed that something such a small thing could make such a difference!
Thank you so much Sandra for sharing this simple but effective part of your experience and life and for having made such a positive difference in our home.
