After purchasing, I immediately entered the code on my PS4 and it didn't work. I tried it a few more times and still no luck. After troubleshooting for maybe 15 minutes, I tried it again and it worked. I believe it takes 10-20 minutes for Sony to register the newly generated code after purchasing it from Amazon. If the code doesn't immediately work for you, wait 20 minutes and try again.

As soon as my purchase went through, it was available for use in my digital purchases. I was also emailed a copy of the code. So for those of you wondering if this is instant, it most definitely is.

You guys need to be savvy shoppers and wait for the price of this thing to drop. now its 60 dollars. and last week for 1 day it was 40. so i jumped on it. frankly 60 bucks is too much for a playstation plus account but when it goes on sale. for 40 bucks. ill bite. bought this code earlier in the week and my account expires today so i just redeemed it. digital code worked fine. i dont know why people say theirs didnt work.

Worked Just Fine, But They May Not Be Available For Long

I've seen a few reviews where people claim that this doesn't work, but after trying it I'm inclined to believe that they either were experiencing technical difficulties on their end or they may have been doing something wrong without realizing it. I purchased my code while at work and was able to get the code instantly, I wrote it down as I would not be able to try it until I got home about an hour and a half later, but when I did get home and entered the code it worked fine instantly.

Also, for anyone upset about the $59.99 version of this product, I did a little research and it seems that Sony did increase the annual cost of their 1-year memberships to $59.99 in general sometime back around August/September 2016, so it appears that stores such as Amazon and Best Buy who still have some of the $49.99 cards/codes in stock are still able to sell them alongside the new/more expensive ones until they sell out. So if you want to save $10, go ahead and get your $49.99 1-year cards while you still can.

This is my second "card" I purchased from Amazon. First purchase, a year ago, no problems with the code. Sweet, right? I'll buy it again. This year, doesn't work... says it's expired? I'm trying to resolve this, will update.
After being hung up on (call dropped?) twice by Amazon representatives, I was finally transferred to a rep who informed me I had to call Sony direct. Sony was closed due to the time and my time zone. The next day, after only 15 minutes on hold that rep was able to validate the code and apply it to my account. 3 stars because I did eventually get what I paid for.

As always I purchased this for my son he has an PS4, as I do every year when his membership expires however I've been buying them from Sony in the past, until last year a friend told me about Amazon digital purchase I gave it a try last year and I received the code instantly as I did with this purchase no complaints here.. and my son loves the fact he gets the 2 free games every month!!! I purchased this because my husband forgot to renew his membership on his PS4, and we didn't feel like going to the store. I was skeptical about it at first because I'd rather go to the store and purchase items like this rather than doing digital codes or using credit cards, but I had no issues with it.
As soon as I purchase it I received the confirmation email, and a few minutes after that I received the email for the digital code. We typed the code in on the PS4 and was back online in no time.
I had never thought about it using Amazon to buy one of these cards but I will for now on. It's just a little more convent than having to go to the store to get a card and renew it.

Look, if you play PS3/PS4 or even Vita/PSP, you'll want to have this. You get free games every month (even if you don't want them you can just add them to your account and decide later).

It's well worth it even after the price increase. Look for deals every holiday!
