I have owned and own several Woods "Yellow Jacket" extension cords. I purchased this one to replace a stolen one. They're popular with thieves too! Its well-constructed plug and socket separate it from the look-alike cords. The Woods cord is well worth the extra money. Also, it doesn't get stiff in cold weather. If you are using this for a weed whacker or leaf blower only, you can get by with the Woods 12/3 cord for about half the price. If you are running an air compressor or anything that has a high current requirement, a 100' 12/3 cord just isn't enough - get this one.

I own three of these in 100' and three in 50'. Every one of the female plugs has melted.. I have replaced them with industrial grade Leviton plugs, but for this kind of money you expect industrial grade to begin with. The cord is pretty good but the plugs are junk.
They are certainly not 'Contractor Grade'.

I am a carpenter by trade but I also have a home shop. I got an old Rockwell contactor saw for free and set it in my garage (which is 30 ft from the house). Unfortunatly the garage was originally wired on common house wire to one 15 amp breaker. So 15 amp saw, 14 gauge wire, under load...you do the math. It was either redoing the entire wiring setup in the garage or find a cheap simple solution. I found a cheap simple solution, this cord, I could run it 40 ft to a 20 amp circut in the kitchen, to the garage and my saw works like a dream. That was what I BOUGHT IT FOR. I took it on site a few times now everybody wants to use it. It's better than anything my employer owns, it's the first thing my co-workers mention on monday, "hey can you run you're cord up to the second floor I need to run the table saw" They snicker at how much I paid for it but the use and envy is proof enough. Not only would I buy it again I need to buy another to keep it at home!

This extension cord is simply awesome. It's #10 wire, so it will safely carry a load around 30 amps (though the electrical connector on the end is only rated for around 15 amps.) Voltage drop over 100 ft is greatly lowered by virtue of the oversized conductors, so it's perfect for running a big load like an air compressor or welder. I use it to run a Hobart Handler 140 MIG welder and it works like a charm. It stays flexible in low temperatures and is very pliable, and the jacket is attractive and tough.

I've used their cords for many years now, and never had a problem with quality. I just now boxed up to send back to Coleman a 50 foot 10/3 Yellow Jacket cord that the female end melted (my fault). Earlier this week I had called them to make sure the exchange warranty was still valid, and their rep said yes, and told me where to go on their web site to download a pdf form to fill out and send back to them for replacement of the cord. Their cords are very flexible in cold weather. LED lighted plug end, helps you to know if you have power at the female end before plugging in to it. All in all a worthwhile purchase, if you want quality.

Here's their number if you want to double check on the warranty: 1-800-323-9355

I had put in the URL for Coleman Cable's page to download their pdf return form, but it looks like Amazon won't allow web links that will take you away from their site. So, just cut and paste in a google search:

coleman cable Yellow Jacket Warranty Claim Form

and the first link should be the pdf form you will need to get your cord replaced. The search works for me.

I am in no way connected with the company. I just use them.

I own a 13 amp corded electric mower and I bought this cord specifically for use with this piece of equipment. I am extremely pleased with it. I was concerned about diminished power to the motor due to a lower gauge/quality cord. I even called the mower manufacturer to make sure I had what I needed. The gal on the other end of the line told me simply, "You're good!"

I like that both plugs on this cord are lighted. Also, the circular male end of cord fits perfectly with circular female end of the mower cord. The fit is snug, so I've never had a disconnect.

To be sure, this cord is very expensive... but you get what you pay for. I've seen some cheaper 10 gauge cords (at Harbor Freight for example), but their Amp value is lower. I've used an electric mower for about 3 1/2 years now, so I have some experience with managing a cord while mowing. I cut through my first cord about two weeks after I began using it, so I'm hoping that first lesson has taught me the necessary caution I need to have. I think if I cut through THIS cord... well I might just cry. ;)

I own several yellow jacket cords. They were purchased with a lifetime full exchange warranty. I just called coleman ( the new owner of the brand ) and they dont have a lifetime warranty any more on new or existing cords. So I would think before spending a lot of money on a cord that has no special warranty anymore. just be aware. I think the product is good, but the value for me was the lifetime warranty. No longer applies..

I bought this cord to use in an emergency with my electric vehicle. Generally extensions cords are not recommended for good reason since most people wouldn't know the difference between a 16 gauge and a 10 gauge cord. This cord is designed when high current is required with minimal voltage sag. If you use it with a saw, for example, it will have a bit more oomph since there will be less voltage sag compared to a 14 gauge or even 12 gauge cord.

The cord comes with a velcro handle which is useful since you will know you're dragging around a 10 gauge cord. It is thick and heavy since it is designed to handle a lot of power with minimal voltage drop.
