Enter Malachi, a huge man of muscle, strength and intelligence that can intimidate most just by looking at them. From the beginning we learn just how much he cares for Grace and worries about not scaring her. Their loves blossoms quickly and so do dangers from friends and family. You see a girl coming into her legacy and birthright with the ability to accept what she doesn't know and accept what is and grow into a woman of equal strength and intelligence.
The story was fast moving for me, I didn't want to stop once I got started. I got drawn into the characters once again and am left wanting more. Those are the best books as far as I am concerned.
I also must speak about the 'Guardians' (the vampire version of police officers or soldiers if you will), the camaraderie displayed for each other or their passion to solve their cause was honorable. The entire team that Malachi works with to uncover the betrayals to their vampire community are characters I hope we hear more from in future books. The battle scenes were very descriptive and when a bone was crushed or blood was getting splattered, you were brought into their world of vengeance. Mind you the fight scenes weren't overly gruesome or horrific in nature, but enough to paint the picture.
And finally the reason for this book (at least for me) Malachi and Sapphira! Their romance is filled with a love everyone dreams of having. Malachi's loving words are things all woman love to have whispered in their ears. The love scenes and the passion scenes were tastefully done. There are no x-rated scenes in 'Yesterday's Daughter'. This is a love you want to stand behind as they begin their new journey with each other.
I await book two anxiously! I want to follow their newfound love. I want to uncover more secrets that we discovered with all the twists and betrayals in book one. It is always refreshing to find a vampire that is created with originality. This debut novel is wonderfully written and I urge you paranormal, romance, vampire loving fans out there not to pass it up!! I give this book my thumbs up!!

One of the best overall books I've ever read. Each chapter drew me in more and more to where I didn't want to let the book down for fear of letting go of each vivid scene that was in my mind. I focused on each page, like an episode I wished would never end.
I get this way with some of my favorite shows on cable, so, it was a thrill to be able to read straight through commercial free. I loved the dialog of this book, each character glued me to the passing pages with in-depth imagery and creativity.
An awesome descriptive vocabulary used, and a story line that is expressed as about as good as it gets. I don't want to ruin any parts of this book, because a spoiler in this case would do no justice.
The best way I can write this review is to honestly say, read it for yourself, you won't regret it. Excellent read indeed, and thanks to the author for weaving such a beautiful, intense, mystery, action-packed, romantic book. It's a keeper for all who enjoy a great story wonderfully inscribed.

Set in our contemporary society as well as the fantasy world of vampires and other supernaturals, it is a tale of loneliness, the search for personal roots, and feelings of not "fitting in," of wars, cultural clashes, prejudice, and passions. It is a story of redemption, devotion, and finding love.
AND - Yesterday's Daughter holds a mirror to contemporary society. We see parallels to our present culture when the heroin finds she is not always accepted because of her mixed heritage, and the terrible consequences that follow. It makes us think about how we feel about people who seem different from us, the assumptions we may make about other groups, and the results of those assumptions.
It is beautifully written, full of suspense, with characters that come to life as the author's great talents take us from today's society to fantasy and back again.
I do not generally read novels, but I love this one. I didn't want this book to end! I miss the characters, and I hope there will be a sequel soon!
I highly recommend this book to all readers.
