Lindsay is agoraphobic and hosts a hugely popular fashion blog. She hires Luke, who was introduced in The Other Side of Someday, to help her get in shape for her 10-year high school reunion. Although the training starts out virtually through video chat, Luke slowly manages to integrate himself in Lindsay’s life, meeting her in person and getting her to open up, leave her house, and take a chance on him. But Lindsay is keeping a secret - the reason she doesn’t interact with the outside world - that could destroy everything she has built.

Don’t hate me, I’m a fan of Carey, but…this was not my cup of tea. It’s a wonderful story and an interesting concept. My neighbor is agoraphobic. As in, I’ve never seen her, but I see her trash on trash day; she has her groceries delivered (go Peapod); and the lights go on and off. My mom claims to have met her briefly, but I have my doubts. Anyhoo, I digress.

This is not your typical, girl meets boy, falls in love in two weeks, and lives happily ever after, story. The majority of the story is Luke getting Lindsay to even let him hold her hand. Then, the climax of the reunion (or what I thought was going to be the climax) was over in a snap. I wanted Lindsay to lay the smackdown (at least verbally) on her arch nemesis - the horrible, horrible excuse for a woman responsible for Lindsay being the way she is. I also wanted to know if anything came from that opportunity Luke had in his storyline.

The characters are well developed. Carey does a really good job of detailing their lives, thoughts, and emotions it’s hard to believe they are fictional characters. For me, this was like a roller coaster with a really long, tall ascension, but then the rest of the roller coaster was really short and disappointing. :(

I'm a huge supporter of Carey Heywood! This book is different from her previous ones. I for one am so unbelievably impressed with this book that I'm not sure what to say. I found it confronting because of the content....it was like Lindsay was my inner voice....but wow it's powerful. I will not give spoilers this is a must read and I feel most people have dealt with the issues/thoughts that Lindsay deals with. Luke omg Luke is the ultimate dream guy he is solid, dependable, loyal, honest and patiently unwavering. This book doesn't have the steamy sex scenes but I think it has a deeper intimacy between the couple that more than makes up for that. It is beautifully written as always by the talented author! An absolute must read/add to your favourites list!!!

This book had me hooked from page one, I could not wait to dive in and learn Luke’s story. The book is more than Luke’s story – it’s Luke and Lindsay’s story. It’s a great story of overcoming fear and learning to open up and being brave (as Carey writes in the book, I love the use of that word). But, most importantly, it’s about taking charge of your life, shedding the images that society has created for us and accepting who you are. Carey writes that beautifully and over the course of this book, we see the two main characters do just that. Her flawless depiction of a person struggling day to day with social conventions is refreshing and ultimately overcoming those fears is inspiring. I have always been a big fan of Carey’s, but this is her best book yet. I laughed and I cried, once at the same time.

Reading the synopsis of this books did in no way prepare me for the actual book. Looking back it the synopsis now, I can see how it relates, but this was not the story I was expecting. It was so much better! I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I hope it is Sasha’s story – fingers crossed.

I was given this book for a fair and honest review for the Books Books Books Blog.

WOW!!!!! Carey Heywood has a way with words. I totally fell in love with this book. The uniqueness of this story drew me in from chapter one. Lindsay lived a life full of fears, insecurities, and distrust. No one could break that wall, until Luke. Sweet, charming, amazing Luke. Sometimes in life we need people who totally understand and don't give up on us, for Lindsay that became Luke. Boy did he have to work for it though, with each patient step he took. He was such an amazing character. Carey brought so much feeling and understanding to the subject matter and these characters. You actually felt like you were a part of their world, all the while rooting for Lindsay to find her strength and for them to find their HEA. Thank you Carey for another amazing book.

I was lucky enough to read YHT during the writing process and fell for two characters who didn't know they were falling for each other. I rooted them on even when they hadn't realized that they had something special. The character of Luke, in my opinion, is every dream. He's the legit stand-up guy looking for committment without pause. He's not looking for a booty call or arm candy. He wants to give himself wholly to the right person, and that person is Lindsey. Even with her own reservations, she let herself open up to him bit by bit in the most unconventional ways. I'm thinking this should be standard for all dating!
