Editorial Reviews

In November 2012 Southern California s raucous punk heroes Pennywise announced the return of the band s original vocalist, Jim Lindberg. Coming off a sold-out 25th anniversary tour featuring the classic lineup of Randy, Byron, Fletcher and Jim, the same lineup hit the studio to record Yesterdays, as both a tribute and fierce rebranding of their punk rock legacy. Featuring new songs for 2014 alongside some never-before-recorded songs written with original bassist Jason Thirsk, Yesterdays is pure prime Pennywise, loud fast and to the in-your-face point.

As a long time pennywise fan, Im a little bit upset about this album. I know the songs were written along time ago, But their great albums happened in the 90's early 2000's. Don't get me wrong its good, but not up to my standards in my view. Its not in my regular music rotation. If you are a pennywise fan its good fro your collection i guess.

Got the old school feel written all over the record and I'm especially hooked with the first four tracks. Overall it's melodic, catchy and you can jump and sing to it like I do when listening to unknown road, s/t or about time. Since these songs are written back in the day, hopefully their songwriting on the next record is closer to this. 9/10.

As a long time Pennywise fan, I am always eager for a new release. With Jim back in the band, Yesterdays is a perfect way to show just how far the band has traveled. All of these songs were written back in the early days, circa 1989 - 1991, but are freshly recorded and sound great. After a couple of spins, this disc gets me pumped up and full of positive mental attitude. Songs like Thanksgiving, with its lively hook "think about all that you have, not about what you can't get", provide longtime Pennywise fans with the spirit of early Pennywise which lured us all in. For all you new fans of Pennywise, this is a great way to hear what all of us have known for years, that #PMA is the only way to live.

Been a big Pennywise fan for over 20 years, so it was natural for me to pick this up. I did not know the premise of the album, being songs written from way back when and the released now. I can honestly say when I started listening to it, was not impressed. Sounded like they just didn't have the energy from days past (but c'mon, they are in their 40's, right?). A few songs were pretty good, others that are re-releases don't sound as good as the originals. But then, I got to the last track, #12 (hidden?), and it made it all worth it. It's basically someone hit record on the tape player in the garage before anyone knew who they were, and I think it's like 6 of the songs that are on the album, but gritty, grainy, and somehow awesome despite the terrible sound quality. It's not their best album, but I'd definitely recommend for any Pennywise fans.

It's not my favorite Pennywise CD, but it is Pennywise. I find it a little soft. It has some songs from their early days as a garage band also. Those songs are fun to listen to once, but it's a little painful to hear over and over.

This is my favorite Pennywise album in a long time. The album could easily be called Full Circle, if that wasn't already taken. All songs have an old style (because most, if not all, are old songs), with modern recording and production. Great to have Jim back in the band, as the band sounds complete again (nothing against Zoli, but that just wasn't quite Pennywise).

This is what I'll be listening to this summer. Bought an old school vinyl album, best way to listen to old school punk!
