From the Author
This book merges several of the themes I read, which are usually separate.
Space Opera, and Magic.
While this combination is becoming more common now, I wondered what would happen if you took a character out of the middle ages, and put him into space in the future. How would his magic manifest, and be used?
Another motivation for this book was to get away from the hero who knows all about space and spaceships, to one who knows nothing, and doesn't care.
Due to health reasons, this book took a great deal longer than expected to write. And is shorter than I've been writing in recent times, although still a good novel length.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
So it appears I'm a total failure in writing a stand alone book.
Writers never know how any book is going to be received, and this one was no different, especially as it was so different to what I've written before.
So I'm totally blown away by how well this book has been received, and even more so by all the calls for a sequel or trilogy. It will now be a trilogy. Book 2 in early May 18, and Book 3 hopefully in late June 18.
I've seen the angst about the ending, and this is addressed in the beginning of book 2.
For those who're speculating, the length of the book was deliberate, and the ending was also deliberate. I'm not even sure why people hate it so much.
For those lamenting the lack of length for the first 2 chapters, the book isn't about them, merely passes through them on the way to the real story. But perhaps there might a reason to return there in a prequel or spin off book, sometime in the future. Not promising, but anything is possible.
