This is a psychological approach to weight and eating. It is differnt than any other Diet Book because it focuses on emotions and why you eat and more importantly about the issues that cause you to eat. If you can deal with the issues and emotions on your own then this book will deffinetly work for you. I am a great advocate of Doreen Virtue and her work and loved this book. I believe that it has given me the tools I need to stop eating when I am stressed. Thank you Doreen.

This is the best self help book I have ever read. It helps you understand why you binge eat so you can address the underlying cause. Because of the painful stuff that can come up, this is not for the faint of heart, this is for anyone who is serious about healing from the core.

This book provides a great explanation of many of the causes of compulsive overeating, and I enjoyed those parts of the book. However, the advice for overcoming this issue is fairly weak. Everyone knows to eat less and exercise more -- it's nothing new. This book's only innovation comes from Virtue's insistence that the secret to freedom from compulsive eating is to find one's true life purpose, but that's much easier said than done.

If you want to change yourself from the neck down, you need to change from the neck up. Almost everyone (unless there are medical reasons) can follow any diet--from the unhealthiest wacky one out there, to the very best health conscious one and lose weight. In fact many of us already have done that--so much so that we are repeat offenders. So why is that we can lose weight and for many of us, the weight comes back. I think that its because weight is the result of something else that is going on. This book supplies the missing piece in a easy to follow, easy to read format.
I only wish that I had come upon it sooner. The book helps provide the missing piece to a more integrative approach. While we are moving more, eating less, and making wiser food selections, we can't forget about our mind and spirit. We are made up of body, mind, and spirit-- all 3 need to be addressed to break free from overweight issues and not have them come back to haunt us. There is no one easy answer.
