This sequenced series of yoga positions or asanas are aimed at healing the neck and shoulder problems and general issues of poor posture that contribute to them.It aims to attain the unity of mind, body and spirit through asanas, breathing and meditation. The Asanas are gentle stretching movements designed to rejuvenate the brain, spine, glands and internal organs.
I'm not sure what happened but the video I saw is not helpful for neck and shoulder problems, in face it aggravated my neck! Also, they show the pose and then afterwards have a cautionary list of "if you have....you should not do this pose". This should be shown before the pose, not after! I was confused why this video got such great reviews so I read a few of them and found out that the video has been changed. I wish I had seen the earlier one - this one was harmful to my neck rather than beneficial.
I love this video. It is perfect if you have been practicing for a while and just want to relax into poses and breathe without having to look up to see what's coming next. It has quiet, relaxing music and a chime that alerts you to when it's time to come out of the pose. No more tweaking your neck (what you're trying to fix in the first place!) by having to periodically look up from your pose to see what's going on. If you are a beginner and need each pose broken down for you step-by-step, then this isn't the right video for you, but if you have been practicing for a while and know these fundamental poses, it is wonderful to just relax and breathe---Hatha yoga at its finest. I have chronic neck and shoulder problems and this video really helps me.
I was so excited to try this because i have neck and shoulder problems but I couldnt get past the first few minutes. If i wanted to watch someone meditate, I would have gotten an entirely different video!
This is a low-quality production video, but it doesn't matter. I was in excruciating pain before I did the yoga poses, to the point where I felt physically ill. I experienced instantaneous relief midway through the video. I'm sure it will take a few runs to get rid of all of the pain, but as someone who has had very bad chronic neck and shoulder pain for as long as I can remember, I know for certain these poses work! I've tried everything to get rid of the pain and nothing else has worked!
It's a bit frustrating to not know when to switch poses, but I guess I'll get used to it.
Yes, there is no talking in this video. Only soothing music and a chime that lets you know it's time to change poses-- so it isn't for the beginner. But it WORKS. I have arthritis in my neck and bone growths that pinch nerves -- it hurts to turn my head. After completing this video, my neck felt softer and it didn't hurt to turn my head left or right, up and down. I will be doing this again and frequently to help with my pain and stiffness.
As other reviewers have said, this video is not for beginners, just because it requires a basic enough understanding of yoga positioning and breathing in order to get into and maintain the positions without verbal instruction. But I used this video in my yoga practice after a couple of days of grueling travel and it relieved my neck and back pain immediately.
Really enjoy the simplicity of these B.R. Ram Kumar yoga programs. No talking, just slow, long stretches. After just a week I noticed a vast improvement in my neck, shoulder, arm and hand pains due to repetitive desk work.
I struggle with tension in neck and shoulders, often getting bad headaches. This really helps! But, like others have mentioned, you need some experience doing yoga as there are no words. The names of the poses are provided, so you can look them up for explanation. There are a couple that I can't hold, so I go to child's pose. I plan to do this routine a couple of times a week to maintain benefits.
