Great color intensity & feel to it, made of high quality materials, the brand logo is present but not flashy, it is 4.0mm in thickness, and a typical 24" x 68" in dimensions - however, the matching carrying cord that comes with is not the best (it's simple and looks like a long "shoe lace"), but I would recommend it to anyone. :)
After about 2 months, I finally tore it during class one day. The teacher had us doing a fast movement and my heel got caught on the mat. It was embarrassing, and I haven't brought it to any classes since. Instead, I've been using the stinky mats provided by the studio and have kept this mat for home practice. I tried taping it, but the tape always gets caught on the floor - again, the mat stretches underneath you. I wish I had invested in a better quality mat!
As for thickness, I prefer a thicker mat, so I always doubled up and used this mat over another one at the yoga studio. This mat is 4mm (.16") and might be considered average thickness. It's okay over my carpet at home. If something hurts during a pose, I just use a blanket for extra padding.
The warranty only applies if purchased directly from yogahola, but when you go to the website, it won't let you purchase anything or give you warranty service. There's a link to buy products on amazon, and you can only enter your email address for warranty registration, but then nothing happens when you submit your email address. It just says thanks and gives you no other warranty options or information, so I'm not sure if the warranty thing is a sham or not. There is a disclaimer under the email text box (that is conveniently the same color as the page background) that says: "By submitting my email, I understand the." It doesn't even finish! I don't know what I agreed to when I submitted my email. If you click on the disclaimer, it takes you to an error site. It's possible that the site is under construction, but it just gives you the feel of illegitimacy. Has anyone been able to use their warranty?
To summarize, not all yoga mats are created equal. I strongly recommend investing any extra dollars in a better quality mat if you're looking to do yoga.
stretches under your feet
likely to tear
UPDATE: The website has very much improved since this review was originally written a year ago, and my YogaHola mat has been useful when I just want to do simple stretches and exercises. I've also noticed indentations in the mat don't go away ever. I placed a tea mug on the mat after a yoga session, and it has never gone away.
If you want a really sticky, quality, and eco-friendly mat to do YOGA with, I would highly recommend splurging on anything by Jade, as long as you don't mind the strong rubber smell. Compared to Gaiam, Manduka, Hugger Mugger (super slippery!), and prAna, Jade is the stickiest!
all that being said, if you're new to yoga and aren't looking to get into some intense hot yoga classes, just want to do some very basic poses at home and give it a try, it's not a bad option. but if you're looking for something to support you and really get you into practice, you'd be wasting your money.
This mat is a great color and is perfect for my weekly yoga class.
I love the "YogaHola" logo on it with the lotus flower letter "o," Little details like that make me happy.
My only slight complaint is that on the Marley Flooring (a type of smooth floor mat put down in dance studios) in the studio I go to the mat will stretch a little when I am in a pose like downward facing dog and you can see it pucker and the end of my finger tips and toes. I have a feeling other mats do this as well and it's not a huge issue.
If you do end up buying this mat, try not to keep it wrapped in the strap for too long (more then a week) or the mat gets indents where the strap holds (probably temporarily). I roll my mat the opposite way every week to avoid this and don't tighten the straps too much.
I've been to at least 30 classes by now and have enjoyed the mat in every one of them.
