Why relaxation?
Regular relaxation can have positive impact on children's concentration, behaviour and general health and well-being (Margolis, 1990, https://stressfreekids.com/3837/reduce-anxiety-childs/). Good Childhood Report from 2019 states that almost a quarter of a million UK children are 'unhappy'. The report says the reasons why many children aren't happy relate to things like appearance, friendships and school. There is an enormous pressure at school and at home, which leads to stress, anxiety and mental health problems. These stress hormones suppress the immune response, however, relaxation allows the immune system to recover and so function better. Children who have practiced regular relaxation have been found to be happier, more positive and better listeners (Amon and Campbell, 2008).

Anna Smithers is an award-winning author, fully qualified yoga teacher (500h yoga teacher training) and yoga therapist for children and young adults (350h yoga therapy for children training). She has also trained extensively in yoga for children and people with autism. She works closely with neurodiverse children. Anna holds two masters degrees; in Science and Business Management.
