THE RIGHT YOGA MAT FOR YOU
About the Original Cork Yoga Mat
The world’s first yoga mat, new and improved! We set out to the farms of Portugal to find the highest, most durable grade of non-slip raw cork yet and fused it together with our eco-conscious foam. Yoloha's Original cork yoga mat will completely change your perspective on how a mat can be so light, yet be ultra durable and provide so much performance.
The high density of cork over a low density foam creates a surface of the highest level of comfort.
Your wrists wont “dump” into your mat and you will feel grounded in stability poses yet your knees will feel safe and comforted.

WHAT IS CORK?
Cork is the outer bark of the Cork Oak Tree which grows in the Mediterranean area. Cork trees are the only tree in the world that regenerates stripped bark.
Approximately 6.6 million acres of cork forest extend across Portugal, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Italy, Tunisia and France. These oak forests support one of the world’s highest levels of forest biodiversity, second only to the Amazonian rainforest.
HOW OUR CORK IS HARVESTED
Not a single tree is cut down to harvest cork, rather, the bark is stripped by hand every 9 years.
Cork oak trees store carbon in order to regenerate their bark, and a harvested cork oak tree absorbs up to five times more carbon dioxide than one that isn’t harvested. Harvested cork oak trees can live up to 300 years.
Harvesting cork is performed completely by hand and provides over 100,000 jobs. Some entire communities in Africa derive a sustainable annual income from the cork harvest.
OUR ZERO-WASTE COMMITMENT
Our Original and Native cork yoga mats utilize recycled foam in their construction through a zero-waste process. All of our production scrap is automatically collected and recycled back into the system so nothing goes to waste.
Additionally, the residue is granulated to make other cork products and cork dust is even used for fuel.

As you can see from the photos it has become quite weathered, but that is due to the fact that I'm using the mat for hot yoga on a daily basis and am generally keeping it rolled up and standing on end (as shown). In general after practicing I wipe it down with a gentle cleaner and leave it rolled loosely to dry. About once a week (though I'll admit sometimes I'll go a few weeks) I will give it a more thorough cleaning with a diluted vinegar solution. The cork does crack and flake, but not nearly as much as you'd imagine and thus far this has only caused slight cosmetic imperfections.
-Eco-Friendly, made in America
-Fantastically Anti-Slip (I have never needed a towel/extra grip!)
-Looks great (I've been complimented on it more times than I can remember)
-Anti-Bacterial, resists odors (even with my less-than-perfect care)
-The mat is a bit heavy (though I hear Yoloha has a new lighter version which I hope to someday try!)
-Minor chipping/discoloration will occur (likely my fault and Yoloha does provide tips to guard against and/or repair these issues).
Overall this is a great mat made by a great company. I highly recommend giving it a go!
I bought my Yoloha mat shortly thereafter and have loved it ever since. I sweat a lot at every hot practice and I never once have considered using a towel with my Yoloha mat. The mat gets grippier when wet. If I'm practicing at home, I pour a little water on the mat to help create an even stronger grip.
Your mat might become a little darker with time. That is part of the experience of using natural wood rather than a synthetic mat. The mat feels like earth under my hands and feet. Earth feels better than a rubber tire.
This is by far my favorite yoga mat. I once showed up for practice and had forgotten my mat. The studio only offered basic sticky mats to rent and another company's high end mat. I was ready to go home because I wanted my Yoloha and wouldn't practice without it. The teacher, also a Yoloha yogi, offered to let me practice on her mat. YES!
I love Yoloha mats. I appreciate that the owners are who you speak to should you call with any questions. They stand behind their products and care about their customers. I am thankful to have found Yoloha mats.
