Top Customer Reviews
The quality of these devices actually surprised me. I was expecting something more cheap honestly. The lcd screens are very crisp and vibrant, the buttons have a nice rubber feel with a good click feel when you press them down.
I was also surprised by the quality canvas velcro strap cases that come with the 2 flashes. They are very similar to the case that came with my Canon speedlite. You even get a nice set of colored gells for color flash.
I also purchases separately, a cheap light stand for $15 on B&H that these work well on, along with a couple of plastic diffusers to help act as a softbox until I get an umbrella or softbox.
All in all, I couldn't be happier. Again, the most important thing is how the light looks in a photo, but I see no reason why they won't work. I'll update this review after I try them out further. I'm just excited to have gotten this entire kit for such a great deal. Anyway... I just wanted to leave a good review and support Yongnuo for offering a low cost option for folks of us on a tighter budget. If these work well, I'll probably buy a couple more just for backup.
For the price, I think this is an excellent set of beginner flashes. I use these on a Nikon D3300. I doubt I'll outgrow these anytime soon.
As a side note, these are MANUAL flashes. There is a TTL version of this flash. I wish I would have done a little more shopping to see that was offered. I'd have bought those instead. As such, the manual flash is forcing me to learn and not be lazy, so that's a good thing too.
Will update when i have used more. But for product info read rest of review.
This item arrived with flash protector sleeves but not one for remote trigger. (little upset about that but as the other two were not mentioned was happy about that.)
Flash filters are not the same colors as pictured but does come woth 20 pieces that are similar to color wheel shown. (In my opinion, the product pictured is cloth cut outs to show colors so just be prepared.)
All in all great package for price. Other photographers i know have recommended these for budget conscious peole like myself and said they started out on these and still use for backups.
This is actually the first kit I bought as such, to get a friend started as a strobist. I already had a YN560 TX, two YN560-IV, two YN560-III and one YN560-II+YN603. The whole gear is worth about as much as the Canon 580ExII it complements and gives much more options for on-location studio lighting.
For more significant gigs I also have a 600Ws monolight that allows for a serious-sized softbox but I always, always have my Yongnuo gear as well for back-lighting, hair-lighting, accents and so on. Plus the monolight can be triggered by the YN603 driven off the YN560TX so all is well in the best of worlds.
One note too: the kit I got is for Canon but I fully intend on using it with my friend's Fujifilm camera.
