In 1948- 1949 I watched New York Central Steam Engines pass by my Grandmother Settles house next to the Big Four Tracks in Indianapolis. In the 2nd grade I drew a crayon picture of a New York Central passenger locomotive the 4-6-4 Hudson Steam Engine. It was crude but showed I started to admire this steam engine as a 2nd grade student. Now to own a hard back large book of the New York Central Steam Engines and history is a book I pick up almost every day.

This may be the ultimate "power book" on railroads. Every type of motive power the NYC ever carded in this time frame is here. Excellent descriptions and photos-large in size and scope. Obviously the authors know their subject matter well.
