The Worthingtons' are full of soap opera like drama and secrets, and are a mixed bag of personalities.
Ben, the father of baby Grace, came across as guarded, unemotional, and very serious with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Dominique (Nikki), Ben's sister, was relatable, down to earth, fun and heavily pregnant with her fifth child. Nikki calls it as she sees it and didn't conform to the mold of a privileged and wealthy person.
Emily, Ben's sister and Penny, Ben's mother appear to be cut from the same cloth, snobbish, and all the other stereotypes of the wealthy.
Alistair, Ben's brother came across as a free spirit, very likable, until we find out that he really isn't and is a spoiled and selfish character. It seemed as though everyone was afraid to talk to Alistair about his behavior (past and present) and have him experience the consequences, instead the family tidies up his messes, sweeping them under the rug.
Though Sarah visits only a few places in New York City, you are right along with her as she experiences it for the first time.
I liked that Sarah stayed true to who she was, she really followed her heart and was patient with Ben as he learned to open up and become more hands on with baby Grace and more human like and she stood up to Penny not changing to suit Penny nor her views on what an au pair should be like.
All in all, though I preferred reading "Paris Lights," "New York Nights" wasn't so bad. The writing was good but sometimes seemed to drag on, the secret was underwhelming, and the connection between Ben and Sarah was just eh for me. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Sarah Williams is hired as Ben Worthington's Aupair. This is a sweet romance with a plethora of secrets, betrayal, and mystery that surround the Worthington family. Ben is a rich, sexy, brooding, moody, closed off, impersonal and controlled individual, although a very confident businessman. When he finally opens up he's quite an endearing character. Ben is the father of the gorgeous infant Grace, who steals the show, and your heart.
Sarah is a hard working, caring and like-able individual. A young Australian women, she comes from a working class family, and comes from a completely different social class to the Worthington family. She has to jump through quite a few hoops, in order to gain a job.
The sexual chemistry sparks off this pair right from the very beginning, but it is a slow burn romance. Their banter has humor and sarcasm and warmth.
Overall an entertaining and engaging read and I look forward to the final title in this series.
A quick and easy read that kept me entertained. Twists and turns I didn't see coming add to the telling of this tale.
