From the Author
I revere families. I have worked for many decades treating families and supervising clinicians. In my capacity as a medical doctor specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, I have seen the tremendous effectiveness that families can have in helping their children, adolescents, and their other family members overcome their problems.
More than a perspective for understanding, this book offers you tools that can change your problematic family dynamics. Join me as we explore some powerful, life- enhancing ideas that you and your family can embrace.

I was therefore thrilled to learn that he had written a book designed to help families to help themselves, providing the general reader access to the important information that family systems theory and experienced family therapists have to offer.
Fishman has woven together compelling stories of families struggling at different points in the life cycle--from the birth of the children through the middle years, to adolescence, to launching young adults, all the way to caring for aging parents. With each of these case studies, he spells out key points and concrete suggestions for how not only to fix your family but how to prevent problems from occurring in the first place.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience!
I jumped on to the website and discovered the recently released publication "You Can Fix Your Family". Formerly I worked as mental health social worker in a psychiatric setting. I also hold a masters of clinical family therapy. I liked this book very much. Each chapter focussed on a specific challenge and concluded with summary points.
"Team Family" can sometimes struggle with therapy tasks and recommended readings. Keeping it simple, succinct and specific I think will be appreciated by busy families and therapists alike.
I would love to see a "You Can Fix Your Family" Workshop developed. Thank you Dr Fishman.
