Review
“The rhythmic text and circular logic of the award-winning If You Give series makes this a favorite for kids and grown-ups alike.” (Brightly)
From the Back Cover
If a hungry little traveler shows up at your house, you might want to give him a cookie. If you give him a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim....
The consequences of giving a cookie to this energetic mouse run the young host ragged, but young readers will come away smiling at the antics that tumble like dominoes through the pages of this delightful picture book.

"If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" is just one book in Laura Numeroff's collection of children's literature books and this, much like the others, does not disappoint. I highly recommend this for children who are learning to read books with bigger words and concepts, but its still great for the younger children too. Parents who are trying to find an engaging book for their children should look no further, this book honestly has everything.
Some reviewers have complained that this book sends a negative message about welfare, people expecting from society, etc.. I think these people have to lighten up - it is simply a funny story aimed at young children.

We had a paperback but this hardback is lovely although a longer story than I remember. She'll love the little stickers at the back so all in all, a great little book for those learning to read (suitable for boys and girls).
