Of all things, we studied the book of Job. Not what most people think of when basically life is turned upside down, but we felt God leading us to do so. We no sooner finished the study of Job and things got worse. We feel God had prepared us by studying Job.
Tim Hansel's story also helped me learn what God was wanting me to learn through our situation. Tim's story also touched me because 6 years ago I injured my back which left me with chronic back pain and unable to find a doctor that either would or could help. I made it clear I didn't want to medicate my problem, that I wanted to know what I could do to make it better. Still, every doctor either thought I was making it up or 'just looking for pain medicine.'
Tim's story not only helped me with the situation my husband and I are going through, but it also came at a time when I learned what I can do to help with my back pain (back exercises to make it as strong as possible) and how to live with the pain. Though I know my back will probably get worse with time I am empowered now with the knowledge of what I can do to keep it as strong as possible. The certainty that God will help me deal with any pain there is along the way and that He will forgive me when I acknowledge the times when I don't deal with the pain well.
I highly recommend YOU GOTTA KEEP DANCIN' for anyone dealing with life's tough situations and/or chronic pain and seeking to grow in their relationship with Christ on their journey.
