A wonderful, biting, incisive "Cultural Arsonist's Literal Reading of The Bible" in plain English, with terrific descriptions of the Old Testament God and the New Testament God (somewhat different individuals...); very tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic and pointed, dedicated to Christopher Hitchens and Thomas Paine, both of whom would, I believe, really enjoy this book! I know I did. Having a sense of humor is required to enjoy this book.-- Sarah Hulcy
What a way to point out the discrepancies and inconsistencies in the Holy Bible. Just be prepared! The author investigates every important event in the Book and gives his opinion in an outspoken, provocative, ironical, often hilarious, often very sarcastic tone. Atheists will have a lot of laughs; if you're religious, have a sense of humor, and are "open-minded," you might have fun; if you strongly believe in the sanctity of the Bible, you'd better not read this "oeuvre." -- Jean-Paul Adriaansen
This is hilarious! Joe Wenke gives a nod to Mark Twain as he looks at the Bible with fresh eyes and with the pen of thinking comic. I know there will be those who will get out their pitchforks and light their torches and see Joe Wenke out, but as for me - someone who went to a Quaker high school and had religion each year and was one course shy of having religion be part of a dual major as an undergraduate, Joe Wenke's YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING is refreshing and should be a part of any library, especially a church library. -- Bill Baker
This was such a fun book to read. I believe in God, and I've read the Bible. The problem with it all is, I'm 30 and I don't understand much of it. This book taught me a lot about the stories and ideas that are in the Bible, and explained them in a way that made me laugh and understand.
Some of it made me feel like I might wind up in hell for reading it, but if you keep an open mind and a light-heart, you'll have a blast reading this hilarious novelty. -- Jon Yost
"Born the oldest of 11 children in a strict Catholic household, comedian Joe Wenke, a self-proclaimed "trisexual," dissects the Bible and asks questions that many never thought or dared to ask. Example: If the Wise Men were so wise, why did they get lost? How big was Noah's Ark and who cleaned up after the animals? [It's a] radically funny book that examines how ludicrous parts of the Bible are when taken literally. Bonus, ...transgender model Gisele graces the cover." - Christopher Rudolph, The Advocate

If you are a secular humanist or freethinker of some sort, I would highly recommend this very funny satirical reading of the Bible.
Behaviour and attitude based on something as completely human and fallible, and totally illogical and uneducated, as the Bible, is disturbing. Science in the teens of the twenty-first century has shown us, thank whatever deity you believe in, just how wrong the bible writers were, but only because they were around then, not now. Still, adherence to the Bible (every bible) has made us what we are today...and i am eternally grateful that we live in a time when we can question it and disregard it as superstitious nonsense based on the limited understandings of the world, by limited minds, in antiquity.
You have to laugh at our gullibility - less so then, in a superstitious world - but nowadays it is just plain dumb.
Too many people are committed to it to give it up easily - it's only through humor and satire that we will learn to laugh at the effort that has been expended through the ages in 'explaining' this nonsense in a palatable way, instead of simply dismissing it.
Every human being in the world should read this book to begin true reformation and separation of humankind from the religious dictators currently creating war and poverty based on this and other written creations based on nothing but pure human fantasy.
